Minor h.ckey teams are busy
In rece n t games, the Exeter Wax-
ers scored two victories in three
starts. They downed Strathroy 5-3 and
split with Goderich winning in the
Lakeport town by a score of 3-2 and
losing 4-1 on home ice.
In the victory over Goderich, Sean
McCann fired two successful shots.
One came on an unassisted effort and
the other on a pass from Ted Hoff-
man. The other score for the Waxers
was fired by Steve Stire with Jamie
van Dam assisting.
The only Exeter score in the loss to
Goderich came from the stick of Sean
McCann on a solo dash.
In the 5-3 win over Goderich, Sean
McCann had a five point night with
three goals and two assists. He and
his linemates Ted Hoffman and Mar-
ty DeBruyn were on the ice for all Ex-
eter scores as was defenceman Steve
Cook.
One of McCann's goals came on an
unassisted effort while Jason Clay
and Ted Hoffman assisted on the
other two.

Hoffman notched the other two
goals with McCann getting two assists
and Gavin Snell helping on one.
The Exeter Broncos picked up one
point in two Shamrock atom hockey
league games this week. Saturday
they played to a 4-4 draw with
Parkhill and Saturday it was a 5-3
defeat in Lucan.

After Parkhill scored the first goal
of the game, the Broncos scored four
straight goals to move ahead, but, the
opposing team came roaring back
with three more goals to create the
tie.
Scoring in single fashion for the
Broncos were Ryan Lindenfield, Jeff
Lingard, Joel Smith and Paul Char-
rette. The only assist went to Jeff
Lingard.
Paul Woodburn notched two goals
for Parkhill and singles were added
by Bill Finch and Steve Vandenberk.
Against Lucan, Sean McCann,
Jason Heywood and Joel Smith were
the Exeter marksmen and Smith was
credited with the only assist.
Scoring one goal each for Lucan
were Jeremy Jemec, Greg Boshart,
Scott Smith, Peter Gibsonand Paul
O'Shea
The Exeter "bantams were on the
losing end of two Shamrock minor
league games this week to Goderich.
In the lakeport town Saturday it was
a 6-1 victory for the home team and
Wednesday back at the South Huron
Rec Centre the score was 6-3 for
Goderich.
The lone goal for the Exeter
youngsters in the first loss came from
the stick of captain Jon O'Connor on
an unassisted effort.
On home ice, the locals scored ear-
ly to take a 3-1 mid -second period
Irish lose to Belmont,
drop to second place
The Lucan Irish have dropped to se-
cond place in the OHA Western Junior •
"D" south grouping as the result of a
7-4 loss to the Belmont Bombers who
moved back into the top spot. In their
other contest this week, the Irish
downed the Thamesford Trojans 9-5.
The Irish will be at home tonight
Wednesday at the Lucan Community
Centre at 8:15 p.m. to the Mt. Brydges
Bulldogs and then it's on the road to
Seaforth Friday night and Thedford,
Sunday afternoon.
In the victory over Thamesford,
Wayne Urbshott, Brad Muir and'Paul
Foran with two goals apiece were the -
top scorers for the Irish. Getting
single goals were Glenn Marshall,
captain Bob Thirlwall and Paul
Barnes.
Colonials winners
again in rec loop
The Colonials defeated Exeter Inn
6-3 to extend their unbeaten streak.in
the Exeter and district men's recrea-
tion hockey league.
In other games, the Outlaws
defeated Algoma Tire 7-2, the
Whalers downed Pfaff's 6-1 and
Pfaff's rebounded to edge the Young
and Restless 2-1. -
Cam Haist and Ron Moore fired two
successful shots apiece to head up the
Colonials scoring. Getting one goal
apiece were John Musser and Pete
Tuckey. Tom Ryan, John Coleman
and Tom Tordoff were the Exeter Inn
marksmen.
Terry Caldwell scored four times to
pace the Outlaws scoring attack.
Scoring in single fashion were Dave
Kinsman, Dan Brintnell and Mike
Stewart. Notching the Algoma scores
were Gerald Weido and Larry
Skinner.
Dave Bell's two goal output was
best for the Whalers while Ed Willis,
Jeff Musser, Mark Vandergunst and
Dave Semeneo added singles in the
win for the Whalers. The lone Pfaff
goal was shot by Jeff Fuller.
Fred Campbell and Tom Hayter
scored for Pfaff's in the 2-1 win while
Eldon McCutcheon replied for the
Young and Restless.
Wayne Urbshott and Scott Denomy
were the top playmakers with -three
assists apiece. Bob Thirlwall was next
with two assists each while Brad
Muir, Brent Martin, Glenn Marshall
and Dean Doer each helped set up one
goal.
Darcy Shaw was in the Lucan nets
to face 33 Thamesford shots while his
mates peppered 41 at Terry Matire at
the other end of the rink.
Referee Marcel Vandermark gave
a total of 25 penalties with 14 going to
the Trojans.
Second Period Difference
Four goals in the second period by
the Belmont Bombers proved to be
enough to send the Irish down to
Wednesday's 7-4 defeat.
Each team scored one goal in the
first period. For the Irish Scott
Denomy converted a pass form Brad
Muir and Rob Clark replied for
Belmont.
In the second period, Brad Muir
notched the first Lucan goal in a
three-way passing combination with
Paul Barnes and Mime Hirtzel and
Jeff Hodgins followed on a similar
play with assists going to Brad Muir
and Mark Bannon.
Russ Cooper was a double scorer
for Belmont m the second period with
single goals notched by John Evert
and Richard Clark.
Mike Hirtzel fired a successful third
period shot'on a power play with Paul
Barnes to complete the Irish scoring.
Richard Clark and John Evert finish-
ed off the Belmont goal getting with
singles in the final 20 minutes of play.

goalgetters on passes provided by
Jeff Kints, Jeff Chipchase, Jon O'Con-

The Exeter pee wees split two
Shamrock minor hockey league
games this week. Wednesday on
home ice, the locals lost 6-2 to
Goderich and Friday they downed
Lucan by a score of 6-2.
In the loss to Goderich, David
Schwindt and Harlen Tinney were the
Exeter marksmen with assists going
to Tim van Dam, Alan Blommaert
and Mark Burton.
Against Lucan, Steve Dubarry led
the Exeter scorers with a hat trick
performance. The other scorers in
single fashion were Jamie
Wulterkens, David Dalrymple and
Jamie Bedard. Getting assists were
Harlen Tinney, Alan Blommaert,
Todd McCann, Jamie Wulterkens,
David Dalrymple and Tim van Dam.
Scott Amos and Paul Manders
scored for Lucan. Assisting were Ed
Van Kerkoerle, Graham Rollings and
Pete Conlin.
Swat leads
Legion darts
The Swat team leads the Exeter
Legion mixed dart league standings
with a total of 31 points, only one more
than the Scotties in second place.
The A Team and Lost Flights are
tied for third place at28 points follow-
ed by 011ie's Best 27, Southenders and
Turtles 25, Canscotts 24, Snyde and
Clyde, Outlaws and Trailers 21, Itchy
Niters, Shiphunters and Odd Ones 18,
4 -W's 17 and the Smurfs eight.

Molting'Hawks lose in
bronze medal bid
The Exeter Molting Hawks reach-
ed the bronze medal final before be-
ing eliminated in the weekend Sarnia
Oldtimers hockey tournament.
The Molting Hawks won 2-1 over the
Sarnia Old Oilers and 3-1 over the
Eureka Blades. The losses came at.
the hands of the Brantford - Old
Boozers 5-2 and the Kitchener -
Waterloo Rustys6-1 in the final for the
bronze medal in the "D" category.
Scott Burton scored both Exeter
goals in the opening game 2-1 win
over Sarnia. Ernie Ahrens assisted on
both goals and Mike Cushman and
Jack Chipchase each picked up single
assists.
In the loss to Brantford, Jack Chip -
chase and Mike Cushman were the
marksmen for the Molting Hawks
with Ahrens again helping on both
goals and Scott Burton getting one
assist.
The Exeter goals in the victory over
Eureka were fired by Bob McDonald,
Scott Burton and Jack Chipchase. The
latter also picked up an assist along
with Ahrens.
Scott Burton converted a pass from
Pete McFalls for the only Exeter
score in the final game loss. to
Kitchener -Waterloo.
Monday night at the South Huron
Rec Centre, the Molting Hawks
scored four times in the third period
to edge the Bridgestone Blades 6-5.

Midget cagers going strong
ment in London. Their first game was had an excellent season and have
played against Ingersoll. There were much to be proud of. Congratulations
defeated 38-15. Cheyenne Mosuring- girls.
john was the top scorer for South
Huron. Laurie Forrester and Donna
Gingerich also had good games.
The next match against St. Marys
was victorious for the Panthers. The
score was 37-24. Cheyenne Mosurin-
john, Laurie Forrester and Kerry
Dietz were the leading scorers.
Their final match, a consolation
game, was lost to Medway with a
score of 44-31. Cheyenne Mosurinjohn
and Laurie Forrester were the top
scorers.
Overall the junior bsaketball team
Themidget girls basketball team of
South Huron is still going strong and
Wednesday the team travels to Strat-
ford Northwestern to participate in a
tournament.
The junior girls basketball season
came to a close this weekend. The
Panther team suffered an unfortunate
loss to'Goderich in semi-final play.
They were edged out by a 22-21 score.
Needless to say it was a disappointing
end; the game could have went either
way. Laurie Forrester was the
leading scorer with nine points. Beth
Sweeney followed with six.
The following weekend the juniors
participated in a wrap -out tourna-

Every Thursday night abadmintoe
club is run at the high school from
7:30 until 10 p.m. For a mere $10 a stu-
dent has two and a half hours to learn
or improve their skills. The club runs
year roma and the members par-
ticipate in many tournaments in the
highschool and the surrounding
areas.
Pat Rowe is the administrator of
the club. According to her this year's
turn -out is one of the best ever.

notched by Mike Cushman on passes
from Scott Burton and Ernie Ahrens.
In the second frame, each team
scored one goal. Jack Chipchase fired
the Molting Hawks marker on an
unassisted effort.
Early in the finat session Ernie
Ahrens converted a pass from Jack
Chipchase and Frank Boyle
registered on passes from Bob Jones
and Pete McFalls.
The tying goal came from the
stick of Bob Jones with assists going
to Ernie Ahrens and Walt Tiedeman.
Jim MacDonald converted a pass
from Jim Pfaff for what proved to be
the winning goal.
Legion aims
are endorsed
Canada's Governor-General gave
formal endorsement to the aims and
objectives of the Royal Canadian.
Legion by signing the organization's
new Articles of Faith testament at a
gala dinner held at the Chateau
Laurier Hotel.
As the Legion's Grand Patron,
Madame JeanneSauve was special
_guest at the dinner commemorating
the organization's 60th year of service
to Canadians.
Legion Dominion President Steve
Dunsdon said, "We were pleased to
have the Governor-General attend the
ceremonial signing of our modern-
day testament, the Articles of Faith.
It- is an important Legion document'
an symbolizes our continued pledge
of service to Canadian veterans, their
families and their communities."
Also attending the dinner were
Minister of Veteran Affairs George
Hees; Chief Justice Brian Dickson;
RCMP Commissioner R.G. Sim-
i monds; General G.C.E. -Theriault,
Chief of the Defense Staff; Jan F.E.
Breman, Ambassador from the
Netherlands; and Senator Jack
Marshall.
The Legion Diamond Jubilee year
will see more than 600,000 members
in 1752 branches staging special
celebrations across the country.
Legionnaires began celebrating the
year in May 1985. Diamond Jubilee
year will officially come to an end in
June 1986.

Explanatory Note:
The explanation and purpose of this By-law is to regulate the
use of lands and the character, location and use of buildings
and structures and to prohibit certain buildings and structures
in various defined areas of the Township of Usborne. The zon-
ing by-law implements the Osborne Township Secondory Plan
and provides for specific land use regulations to ensure that
the policies of the Secondary Plan are realized.
Several objections were received:
1. to amend Section 2.141 (definition of Sewage Disposal
Facilities) to include septic tank and tile bed disposal area;
and to amend Section 3.12 (Parking and Loading Spaces) by
adding a new section 3.12.3 to read "no porking lot area shall
be located on a septic tank and tile bed disposal area" -
Resolved by By-law 25-1984.
2. to have rear portion of Frayne Chev. Olds lands (Pt. Lot 15,
• Conc. 1) from HC1 - Highway Commercial to VM1 - Village
Industrial - Objection withdrawn.
3. for relief from the separation distance requirements of the
zoning by-law as they apply to Part Lots 26 and 27 of Conc.
