Check four
area mishaps
Officers of the Lucan detachment of
the Ontario Provincial Police in-
vestigated 62 general occurrences. In-
cluded were two thefts over $200, two
break, enter and thefts and four of
willful damage along with four motor
vehicle accidents.
Thursday at 11:53 a.m. vehicles
.driven by Theodore Van Busse), RR
1, Lucan and Patrick Ryan, Lucan
collided on highway 4. Constable
Briggs listed damages at $1,300.
The first of three Friday mishaps
occurred at 2:15 a.m. on highway 7
when a vehicle driven by Mike Jones,
Stratford went out of control on
highway 7 and struck a guide wire.
Damages were listed at $2,500 by Con-
stable Vance.
At 9:35 a.m., the same day vehicles
driven by Deborah Laskin -Rich and
Kathleen Hoey, both of London were
in collision on Middlesex road 20. Con-
stable Osterloo set damages at $1,900.
The same officer estimated
damages at $1,000 at 4:10 p.m., Fri-
day when vehicles driven by Kathleen
Smith, RR 3, Ailsa Craig and Alma
Hodgins, RR 1, Lucan collided on the
main street of Ailsa Craig.
Three persons were charged with
impaired driving and five licence
suspensions of 12 hours were issued.

Institute meets at Granton

on October 30-31, held at the Nordon
Restaurant in London were Mrs.

Elsie Dann; Mrs. Nora Wissel and
Mrs. Eileen Summers.
At the Granton United Church the
Rev. Bruce Pierce was in charge of
the Sunday morning worship, entitl-
ed his message "A Request for
Yesterday". If your life is disrupted,
you will find the reason is, that God
has other plans -for you, said the Rev.
Pierce.
In his children's story the Minister
used the story of the Bionic Woman
and the six million dollar man to ex-
plain the power of God. We have more
power then these people, because we
have God and He is all powerful said

Happy Gang meet
The Granton Happy Gang met in
the United Church on Wednesday
afternoon. Mrs. James Kerr presid-
ed and opened the meeting with a
sing -song, ending with the anniver-
sary song, being sung in honor of Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins who will
be celebrating their 50th wedding an-
niversary on Saturday, November 29.
The business session followed. It
was decided to have the Christmas
dinner on Wednesday November 27,
Unit 3 U.C.W. have offered to cater
for it. Members may bring a frined.

Hallowe'en parties
at public schools
The days around Hallowe'en were
filled with a variety of activities for
the students at Biddulph-Lucan
school.
Wednesday, the kindergarten
students dressed up in costumes for
an afternoon party.
Thursday, saw the kindergarten to
grade three students in Lucan involv-
ed in games, art activities, having
clown faces painted on, films and a
visit to a "haunted house classroom".
Students in the Biddulph building
were encouraged to dress up, and
carved pumpkins as well. Best
costumes and pumpkins received
awards from the Student Council.
The week ended with a special
Hallowe'en dance for the grades
seven and eight students.

Members of the Lucan Biddulph
Cancer Society executive attending
the annual meeting of the London -
Middlesex Unit on Wednesday even-
ing at Strathroy Legion Hall, were
president Len Maslen, secretary Ian
Goring, treasurer, Bruce Maslen,
education co-chairman Marg Cocquyt
and Audrey Harloff, public informa-
tion chairman Eileen Summers.
Anglican
The Rev. Peter Derrick was the
celebrant for the Holy Eucharist at St.
Thomas Anglican Church. The server
was- John Jones and John Herbert
was the crucifer. The pianist was Lois
.Herbert. The two lessons were read
by Mrs. Percy Hodgins and Carrie
Moore. The Gospel of the Day was
read by the rector.
The Rev. Derrick preached his ser-
mon on All Saints Day.
Don't forget about the annual baz-
aar in the church hall on Saturday,
November 16 from 2 - 4 p.m.
