Joel Smith notched the first goal on passes from Ryan Lindenfield and Fred:Godbolt and the second was shot by Jason Heywood with the assisting going to Fred Steciuk. Two goals in each of the second and third periods were enough to give the Broncos Sunday's win on home ice. Hawks blow early lead, lose two The Exeter Hawks were never in one of two weekend games, while they stayed in the other until the final six minutes. Friday night, the locals were blown away 9-1 in Tavistock and on Sunday they blew a four -goal lead to end up on the short end of an 8-5 verdict with the Trojans in Thamesford. The locals return to the friendly confines of the rec centre this Friday when they host the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs and then they head to Seaforth on Sunday for a contest with the Centenaires. To date, the Hawks have recorded only one win and a tie in league play and will have to improve'on that if they have any hope of making the southern division playoffs.N,- In Tavistock, Friday, the home town Braves scored in just under four minutes and kept up the onslought as they fired the final one of their nine goals with a powerplay with only 16 seconds left in the game. The Hawks weren't dominated as much as the final score indicated, as they were only out -shot by a 36-33 margin. However, the Braves were much more accurate around the net. The lone tally for the Hawks came on a powerplay midway through the second stanza when Steve Gould finished off a play with Scott Bogart and George Pratt. The hoststook seven of the 10 minors called in the contest. Blow lead Travelling to Thamesford, Sunday, the locals appeared to be heading for their second win of the season as they took a 3-0 lead in the first and increas- ed it to four early in the second before the Trojans got untracked. The hosts scored successive short- handed goals late in the second to help their cause and they knotted the count at 4-4 at the 4:02 mark of the final period. Exeter again took a lead ,at the 11:29 mark, but the Trojans then hammered in four straight in the final five and a half minutes to grab- the vietory. Sean Whiteford sparked the Hawks with two goals and an assist, while Steve Gould and George Pratt pick- ed up one goal and assisted on three others each for four -point nights. Ian Munroe notched the other goal and rounded out the scoring with a single assist. Jason VanHaarlem recorded 41 saves in the contest in which the Tro- jans picked up 13 of the 24 penalties called.
