WOSSA championship
for 5M senior runners
The South Huron senior girls win-
ners of the Huron -Perth cross coun-
try championship a week earlier won
the WOSSA crown in London, Friday
and now advance to all -Ontario
competition.
The 16 members of coach Joe
Fulop's team travel to Brockville this
weekend, the fourth time in the past
five years that, a SHDHS team has
participated in OFSAA tournaments

In individual standings in WOSSA
action, Jeanette VanEsbroeck finish-
ed eighth and was best for South
Huron for the second straight week.
Sheila Regier was 10th after a poor
start and Sandra Relouw with her
best effort of the season placed 12th.
Rosemary Regier again running in
pain was 16th, Christine Chalmers
moved up from the midget team ran
24th, Kathleen Little with one of -her --
better performances of the year was
one spot back in 25th.
Colleeen Regier and Sandra
Hullebusch sprinted together to the
wire and were 43rd and 44th. Janice
Ducharme improving steadily as the
season progresses was in 55th spot.
Bonnie Turnbull finished in 56 spot,
Cathy Hartthan with a much improv-
ed effort was 73rd, Jennifer Gilenick
was 81st and Angela Fleming did not
finish because of a pre -race injury.
In midget WOSSA competition,
Henri DeBuryn of South Huron came
across the finish line in 33rd spot, the
best finish for a South Huron runner
in many years.

Colonials slowed,
but not beaten
In Exeter men's rec hockey league
action this week, the Colonial Hotel
team's winning streak was stopped,
but they did pick up a point as the
result of a 3-3 tie with the Whalers.
Cam Haist, Ron Moore and Ken
Bergman scored in single fashion for
the Colonials while Dave Bell fired
two successful shots and Jeff Rowe
added a single for the Whalers.
Brian Taylor scored three times to
lead the Young and Restless to a 6-3
victory over the Outlaws. Dave Atthill
added two scores and Jim Rolph shot
a single. The lone marksmen for the
Outlaws was Dave Kinsman.
In a high scoring contest, Bob Bilin -
sky picked up a hat trick, Larry
Taylor and Ken Pinder each scored
twice and Ken Varley and Tom
Hayter notched singles as Pfaff's
downed Algoma Tire 9-4. Gerald
Weido was best for the 'firemen with
a two goal effort. Adding singles were
Jamie Gaul and Larry Skinner.
Jamie Caldwell recorded a pair of
goals and singles came from the
sticks of Randy Parker, Terry
Caldwell, Dave Kinsman and John
Bilcke as the Outlaws defeated Ex-
eter Inn 6-1. Scoring for the losers was
Dave Prance.
Bantams get
only a point
In three starts in Shamrock league
play this week, the Exeter bantams
could come up with only one point as
the result of a 2-2 draw with Dor-
chester. In other games the locals lost
6-0 to Parkhill and 8-3 to Port Stanley.
In the tie with Dorchester, Larry
Lewis and Jeff Chipchase were the
Exeter marksmen with assists going
to captain Jon O'Connor and David
Dalrymple.
Against Port Stanley all three Ex-
eter goals came on unassisted efforts.
Hitting the visitors net without pass-
ing help were Jeff Hannah, Jon
O'Connor and Shawn Moore.
Todd Suderman led Parkhill to the
6-0 win with a hat trick performance.
Scoring in single fashion were Mark
Lillens, Ian Watson and Blake Smith.
