At the back are school secretary Pat Rowcliffe and volunteers Marion Porter, Marilyn Stasik and Willie Verberne. Firemen honour guard at funeral By MRS. STAN PRESZCATOR Crediton The funeral for the late Donald Din- ney was largely attended Tuesday afternoon. Following the service at Zion United Church the Crediton Firemen and their wives accom- panied by County Co-ordinator Dave Crothers of Wingham and Huron. Park firemen, formed an honour guard. The fire engine led the procession to the cemetery followed by the firemen, their wives and fellow • workers from U.W.O. The six sons of the deceased Gary, Dale, Brian, Steven, Scott and Derek were pallbearers. A the--conciusibn of"the-graveside service Chief Charles Browning persented Marie with ,Don's fire helmet number eight wich is now retired from the Fire Hall rack. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Morlock will be"celebrating their 40th wedding an- niversary on Sunday, October 27. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fahner celebrated their 43rd wedding an- niversary Thursday October 17. By MISS JEAN COPELAND Thanksgiving was the theme for the October meeting of Woodham U.C.W. held in the church basement. Mrs. George Levy opened the meeting with a short reading "Praise Ye The Lord" followed by prayer and a hymn. The scripture was read by Mrs. Dave William. A Meditation on thanksgiv- ing was read by Mrs. George Levy. Mrs. Ted Brine led in a prayer of thanksgiving and supplication. Mrs. Dave Williams gave the Study • Bonkon Karen telling of their def- ferent religions and the Christian Church. Mrs. Ted Brine gave a reading "Autumn". Mrs. Jean Copeland opened the business with a reading "Come Walk With Me". The offering was taken and the minutes of the previous meeting read. The roll call answered by 16 members. We will cater to a banquet in November and a Wedding in April, 1986. There will be church calanders for sale with the profit going to the Sunday School. • Boy Scout fees up at Cromarty By MRS. ROBERT LAING The group committee for 1st Cromarty Boy Scouts met Thursday evening with Bill Mahon presiding. Carol Anne Scott reported that Brian Krigner of Waterloo would speak on his snake hobby at the father -and -son banquet on February 16$ Because of the rising cost of scout and cub handbooks, badges, etc., it was decided that the weekly dues of the Scouts and Cubs would be raised to .50 cents, with the Beavers' dues to remain at .25 cents. A •committee of Linda Pullman, Ruth Laing, Maureen Dearing and Cathy Elliott were appointed plann- ing committee for the father -and -son banquet.
