IRVIN RADER Dashwood Dashwood Senior Citizens will hold their meeting October 21 at the Com- munity Centre. Dashwood women's Institute members Mrs. Emil Becker, Mrs. Eben Weigand and Mrs. Edith Baker, attended the Fall Rally at Thames Road United church last Monday. Ladies Aid Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid met Tuesday, October 8 with 13 members present. President Mrs. Florence Martene opened the meeting with the hymn "Come Ye Thankful People Come", followed by scripture reading and prayer. Pastor Mellecke had the topic., "Growing Pains" which was a con- tinuation of last month's topic. Such questions as: how did Jesus s int ple to God's answers? What did ear- ly Christians do when they weren't sure of an answer? What did Paul urge people to do and do himself? and what did Peter urge the early church to do? were answered by Bible study. Mrs. Earl Keller gave a reading on Thanksiving. Roll call was answered by stating what you were thankful for. The Altar Guild reported 14 visits as well as visiting with others at Queensway Nursing Home. The new Guild is Mrs. Lorne Becker and Mrs. Alma Genttner. The ladies are invited to the CWL Bazaar at Mount Carmel November 5 at 7:30 p.m. The October project is a food basket for the St. Catharines Seminary. Mrs. M. Mellecke read -a poem by Helen Steiner Rice "Thank You God for Everything." Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bruce' from Grand Bend celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Dashwood Community Cen- tre Sunday. Family members attend- ed Zion Lutheran church service. Mary Ann Desjardine and Jayne Hayter sang a duet "0 Perfect Love." Family members came from Dashwood, Brantford, Montreal, Mississauga, Toronto, Parkhill and Goderich. A delicious Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed by all. Personals Mr.- and Mrs. Wellwood Gill, Craigwiel Gardens and Mrs. Colleen Higgs Ailsa Craig were Friday even- ing visitors with Mrs. Mary Rader. Thanksgiving visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Miller and family were Mrs. Muriel Boyd, Sarnia; Roshleen and Bill Berends, Jack and Darlene Schenk and family, Exeter; Rudy and Mary Lou Villeneuve and family, Kit- chener; Robert and Marjorie Green and family, Huron Park; Thomas Miller, Ottawa and-Eugene=and-Barb— Faveri, Toronto. The funeral service for Ken Kraft was held at the T. Harry Hoffman, funeral Home with Rev. M. Mellecke officiating. Pall bearers were Stewart Kraft, Ron\Kraft, Bill Kraft, Steve Bogart, Barry Tetreau and Jeff Tetreau. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rader, Ben and Robin, London, spent Monday with Mrs. Mary Rader. . Mr. and Mrs. Dave Rader and family were Thanksgiving guests with Mr, and Mrs. Bob Heywood and family. John Kellerman, Toronto, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Mildred Kellerman. Mrs. Florence Martene and her daughter spent thanksgiving at Chatham with her sister, Mrs. Grace Bond. She also visited her 91 -year-old aunt, Mrs. Tillie Critts. They had their dinner with her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cook. John Beckman is a patient in University Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Reid are now residents of Dashwood, having bought the home of Mrs: Greta Schatz. Mrs. Aldene Wolfe spent the weekend in Dorchester with Tom and Pat Wolfe and familywhere members of the Wolfe family gathered for Thanksgiving from Toronto, Oakville, New Hamburg and London. Mrs. Jean Walper spent Thanksgiv- ing in London with Mr. and Mrs. Stan Slezak and family. Allan Pym showed the movie "It's a Highway to Die" about alcohol, drugs and the driver on the road. Mrs. Marion Skinner thanked Allan. President Mrs. Philip Johns open- ed the business part of the meeting with the Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Ruth Skinner gave the hospital report and a donation was made to the Hospital Tag Day. Mrs. Lavona Delbridge and Mrs. Freeman Horne gave the report of the fall rally held at Thames Road Church. The delegates to the area conven- tion on October 30 and 31 will be Mrs. Philip Johns and 'Mrs. Ivan Brock, each attending one day. Mrs. Marion Skinner read several articles on road safety. These includ- ed "An Important Card", "Ten Little Drivers" and an article on a father teaching his son to drive. She gave a list of six things to do if you have an accident and a list of four things not to do. She conducted a quiz on traffic signs and other traffic fac- tors. This was very informative for all present. She also conducted a quiz on the let- ters of the alphabet. She closed this section of the meeting with "A Truckers Prayer". A social time followed. The following people attended the wedding of Elizabeth Miners to Rick Schell at St. Pauls United Church in Walkerton, Friday evening. They also attended the reception following: Mr. and Mrs. Howard Johns, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Johns, Kevin and Amy, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Prance, Mr. and Mrs. John Batten, Mrs. Millie Fulton, Mrs. Marion Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kerslake, Mr. and Mrs. CREDITON 4-H By KM-thy_Hendrick- .._ _:_.- - -The Crediton 4H Club No. 1 had their third meeting October 5 at the Crediton Community Hall. Weal! made cornish pastries and 'car- rot pie. All of the members were put in groups and each one of us made a part of the recipe. Once they were in the oven cooking we turned to our books and read about dessert fillings, savoury pies and ad- ding the finished touch to them. Next we compared store-bought pies to, frozen and then homemade. We came up with the conclusion that the homemade pastries are cheaper. Before we left we had to try our recipes. The group preferred the Cor- nish Pasties to the Carrot Pie, but both proved to be interesting. The next meeting will be held Saturday, October 19, at 8:30 a.m. Lorne Johns, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd and family. Doug and Justin stood up Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Miners at the wedding.
