Unit 4 Meets
Thanksgiving was the theme of the
meeting of Unit 4 of Hensall United
Church, Thursday. Leader Nan Brit-
ton opened the meeting with a verse
"God is in Every Tomorrow". Sadie
Hoy spoke on the Golden Years of Life
in her devotions. The life that has
been filled, loving and being loved,
makes the passage of years a won-
drous thing in God's beautiful world.
The roll call was answered with 12
members being present, 49 .visits
reported. Nan Britton remembered
Susan Purdy who passed away this
month. A moment of silence , was
observed and prayer.
Myrtle Sherritt gave the treasurer's
report. Mary Roobol reported three
birthday cards, one get.well, and one
sympathy card sent. The offering was
received by Isobel Rogerson and
dedicated by Nan.
.The General meeting was be Mon-
day, October 7. Hilda Payne gave a
report on the Regional Rally at
Dashwood.
Mrs. White of Birr spoke on her trip
to Israel, which was interesting and
informative. Nellie Riley read an
amusing poem on "Let Your Pastor
Know". The point was well made that
we all expect help from our pastor,
even though we have never informed
him that we have a problem.
Hilda Payne continued the study of
the native Indian entitled "Land
Claims unravelling the Myths".
Aboriginal Rights belong to the Indian
since they were the orginal people in
Canada. When the Europeans came
they negotiated treaties with the
native Indians for parcels of land in
pursuit of oil, minerals etc. The land
still belonging to the Indian people
has been used willfully as a result the
native hunting, fishing grounds have
been ruined. The Indians are fighting
to retain their own land.
The meeting closed with a hymn
and the Benediction. A bountiful lunch
was served by Dorothy Mickle and
Myrtle Sherritt.

Queensway Nursing Home
This week our volunteer minister
was Rev. Hawley. We had 38
residents down in the Activity room
to attend the service. Rev. Hawley
also brought along five volunteers
who were a real help. Pianist was Mr.
Robert Cameron. Joanne Wareham,
Pat Down, Lori Shapton and Dorothy
Grainger helped the residents with
the hymn books.
Many of our residents spent as
much time as possible out -doors this
week as we probably won't have
many nice days ahead.
The Nursing Home residents en-
joyed music with their lunch on
Thursday as Lorne Johnston played
his fiddle in the Activity Room. Thank
you, Lorne, for the lovely back ground
music.
On Thursday evening several
residents enjoyed our weekly movie
called "The Juggler," a story of a
young visually handicapped boy who
becomes friends with a young beggar
who juggles for money.
On Friday our ladies enjoyed a
"Ladies Hour" where they had their
make-up and fingernails done, along
with their afternoon tea. It was very
enjoyable and the ladies looked
lovelier than ever afterwards.

weight of some tyranny upon you and
then look ahead and see nothing but
the continuence of that burden?" he
said. "There is a hunger for hope in
the world, and we can bring some
hope to these people."
The children's story was based on
the meaning of the Communion Ser-
vice when Mr. McDonald told them
that their parents would be receiving
the bread and wine while they were
in Sunday School and what it means
to receive Communion.
Mary Moffatt was the organist for
.the service, and Tim Mann, Chuck
