ners in the Crediton and area slopitch league.

Pee wees lose in final round
The Exeter Legion pee wees drop-
ped two straight games to Flesherton
in their quest for the Western Ontario
Athletic Association "D" baseball
championship. Flesherton had
previously won the OBA "E" title.
The first game in Flesherton was
won by the home team 6-0 and in Ex-
eter Tuesday, the locals scored three
times in their last turn at the plate,
but, fell two runs short in a 7-5 loss.
The record of the pee wees for the
en',ire season was 19 victories and 16
losses. In the opening series loss in
Flesherton Harlen Tinney was on the
Exeter mound. He picked up eight
strike -outs and walked six batters.
In Flesherton, Harlen Tinney was
also tops at the plate with a double,
single and a walk in three trips to the
plate. Other Exeter hits were singles
from the bats of David Schwindt,
Mark Russell, Mark Burton and Scot
Russell.

The final contest in Exeter Tues-
day, saw Flesherton score four times
in the first inning, one more in the se-
cond and an insurance tally in the top
of the seventh.
Harlen Tinney doubled and scored
the first Exeter run in the opening in-
ning as he doubled. In the Exeter
third, Tinney cracked a leadoff home
run.
The first three Exeter batters
crossed the plate in the bottom of the
seventh and two more runners were
on the base paths as the possible ty-
ing runs when the final out was
recorded.
During the seventh inning rally,
Harlen Tinney doubled and David
Schwindt, Mark Russell and Allan
Blommaert walked and Brent Borden
sacrificed.
Tinney was also on the mound and
during the even inning contest chalk-
ed up 10 strikeouts.

Mohawks fly high in Watford
The Exeter Mohawks will be pro-
viding excellent hockey entertain-
ment for local fans this winter if
Saturday's first exhibition game is
any indication of what the 1985-86
season will be.
Playing in Watford, the Mohawks
completely dominated play and
blanked the generals 11-0.
The first chance for hometown sup-
porters to see the Mohawks in action
will be this Saturday night at the
South Huron Rec Centre at 8:30 p.m
with the Arthur Tigerssupplying the
opposition. The return game goes in
Arthur Tuesday night.
Exeter coach Jack Chipchase used
three goalies for one period each.
Sharing the shutout.were Rick Pikul,
Ptet Parsons and Lou Arts.
The Exeter club took a 2-0 first
period lead as Doug Gibbon converted
a pass from Pete Tuckey and Brian
Horner fired a successful shot on a
three-way effort with Steve Prout and
Jim Benn.
The Mohawks broke the game wide
open in the second period with five
scores.
Brian Mercer was the first
marksman with assists going to Jim
Benn and Doug Latta. Next came an
unassisted goal by Mark Cronyn and
a power play score by Pete Tuckey
with assists provided by Cam Doig
and Barry Baynham. Doig was next
to score on a pass from Baynham and
Jim Benn followed with a successful
shot. Assisting were Doig and
Baynham.
In the third.period, Brian Horner,
Mark Cronyn and Jim Benn each not-
ched their second goals of the night
with Doug Latta getting two assists
and Doug Gibbon, Brian Mercer, Jim
School field hockey
team victorious again
Murray Rundle 21st and Don Wareing
ran to a 25th place finish. Mike Clarke
did not finish the race due to injury.
Basketball
In basketball this past week the
juniors and seniors both defeated
Listowel. The seniors won with a
score of 28-15. Dianne Willis had a
super game and was top scorer with
ten points. Irene Breand also played
well and scored nine points.
The senior girls played again Satur-
day, at Alumni Hall. They lost to
Lucas and Ingersoll, but Irene Brand
and Diane Willis played well and were
top scores for South Huron.
The junior girls basketball team
also played Listowel, Wednesday.
They added another victory to their
list winning the match 33-24. Laurie
Forrester played superbly and was
top scorer with 12 points. Cheyenne
Mosurinjohn scored 10 points and
Beth Sweeney played -well and scored
5 points.
The midget girls lost to Listowel
43-51 but only after two hours, 20
minute foul -laden game. Lori Har-
burn and Christine Rose scored four
points each.
The SHDHS field hockey team has
added another victory to their pro-
gressively growing list. This time
they beat out Stratford Northwestern
by a score of 7-0.
Kendra Arthur and Ronalyn Bell
scored two goals each. Irene Dietrich,
Pam Cottrell and Mona Brand each
scored one leading to a very im-
pressive win.
The next game will be played today
Wednesday against Stratford Central.
The semi-finals begin on October 18.
Cross country
October 3 at Dorchester several
runners from the cross-country team
showed impressive personal perfor-
mances. Senior girls, Sheila Regier
and Sandra Rooseboom placed fourth
and eighth, respectively.
The junior girls team placed third
overall. Rosemary Regier came in
third and Jeanette Van Esbroeck
placed sixth.
Christine Chalmers and Jennifer
Gielnik fared well in midget girls
competition. In midget boys competi-
tion Henry DeBruyn placed 10th.
The senior boys ran exceptionally
well and as a team placed second.

Lewis placed 15th, 16th and 17th
respectively. Craig Winbow was 20th,

Participation in Sunday's turkey
shoot sponsored by the claybird gun
club was excellent.
