At Thames Road Church T -A photo The more looking, more loaf By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE Rev. Robert Matheson -was in charge of the regular church service Sunday morning. We sang "God Sees The Little Sparrow Fall" and Rev. Matheson told the children a story "The Little Engine That Could". The Scripture Lesson was read from Job 28:20-28, James 3:13-4:3, Mark 9:30-37. The sermon was entitled "The more I look for it, the more lost it becomes". In explanation of title Rev. Matheson said human frustration at looking for lost objects and at the same time this title speaks of the futility of searching for wisdom. Place your faith in the wisdom of God. Wisdom of God is different from human wisdom, is oriented around sense of community and family and wisdom motivates unselfish behaviour. Next Sunday, October 6, at 11:15 a.m. the Sacrament of the Lord's Sup- per will be celebrated. It is Worldwide Communion Sunday. The occasion being the first birthday of Megan Parker. Dashwood pair win euchre title By MRS. IRVIN RADER tr Mrs. Betty Smythe, London, was a Monday visitor with Mrs. Edith Baker. • Congratulations to Dashwood Seniors representatives Mrs. Greta Restemayer and Mrs. Nola Love who won the gold medal at the tri -county (Huron -Perth and Middlesex) Ontario Senior games for euchre held at St. Marys September 24. A number of Dashwood Seniors ac- companied the Grand Bend Seniors on McNaughton Tours bus to the Men- nonite Country, Thursday. We visited St. Jacobs and toured Elmira and the. Farmer's market at Kitchener. Rain kept us from visiting farms but we drove around and saw farms and one farmer ploughing with five horses. The school children are not bussed to and from school - they walk. Flowers on the altar in Zion Lutheran church Sunday were plac- ed by Mrs. Greta Restemayer and family in loving memory of Leonard Restemayer who passed away sud- denly September 28, 1983. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Webber held open house in honor of their 50th wed- ding anniversary with many callers wishing them happy anniversary. They are both enjoying pretty good health. They have two boys, Charles; Hensall and Eugene, Exeter; two girls, June Campbell, Exeter, and Kathleen Weibert, London; there are 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rader, Ben and Robin, London; and Mary Rader were Sunday supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Rader, Stacey, Derick and Stephanie. Mrs. Elson Lynn and Mrs. Larry Lynn were in charge of the meeting. Jean Lynn opened the meeting with a poem "Dream Road". A film strip showing the different ways of life that the North Korea women live from that of the South Korea women. Jean Lynn read an ar- ticle on "The Korean Church customs." Sharon Lynn led in prayer by repeating "A Christian Mother's Prayer." Everyone enjoyed and join- ed in the bible study on Michael. This was led by Sharon. President Mrs. Floyd Cooper open- ed the business part of the meeting by thanking the program committee. The minutes of the last meeting were read. The roll call was answered by "Bring your baby picture." At the conclusion of the meeting everyone enjoyed guessing who was who in the baby pictures. Mrs. Howard Pym gave a report on Alma School for Women 50th anniver- sary and Mrs. Philip Johns gave a report on the executive meeting held at Belgrave. The annual meeting will be held at Exeter United Church on January 27 with the alternative the following week. It was reported the upstairs of the church has been house cleaned and the basement will be done on Tuesday morning. The buying committee will be look- ing into the purchasing of new carpet this week. The meeting closed by everyone repeating "the United Church Women Purpose". A social time followed. First euchre at Centralia By Mrs. TOM KOOY Margaret Cook and Lois Wilson have returned'home following a bus trip earlier in the month to the East Coast. They reported a very en- joyable trip. The first euchre party of the season will be held Monday evening October 7 in the community centre. (See ad elsewhere) . Centralia UCW will meet Thursday evening October 3 at 8 p.m. Guest speakers t11 be Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith'.of Exeter. They will speak on Africa. Everyone is welcome. UCW Regional The South Huron Fall Regional for United Church Women was held at Dashwood United Church, Thursday. The theme for the year was "Inter- national Year of the Youth." Atten- ding from Elimville were Mrs. Howard Pym, Mrs. Philip Johns, Miss Ruth Skinner, Mrs. Gilbert Johns, Mrs. Larry Lynn and Mrs. Floyd Cooper. Sunday Service During the Sacrament of Baptism three girls were welcomed into the family of Christ. They were Tara Lee - Anne Hovius, daughter of Jacob and Brenda Hovius; Megan Marlene Skin- ner, daughter of Dale and Joan Skin- ner and Sherri Elizabeth Skinner, daughter of Jim and Marilyn Skinner. Next Sunday we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. The choir and the Young People's Sunday School class will serve a meal at 12:15. The proceeds will go hoards paying for the front wall of the church. This has been their project. Everyone is welcome. Please call Mrs. Howard Pym or Mrs. Philip Johns if you plan to attend.
