Queensway news
The first day of autumn was
September 23 and to start off this
season we at Queensway would like
to share with you a poem:
"Summer's gone and Autumn's here,
Leaves are turning red.
Soon will come the winter drear,
The world of nature dead.
Let not these sad thoughts be yours -
but sing.
Because the dark days lead to
Spring."
- Francis Gay,
The Friendship Book.
On Monday, September 23 our
residents enjoyed a sing -song of old-
time favourites. Joyce Pepper played
the piano and Lorne Johnston accom-
panied her on the violin.
On Tuesday Rev. Bob Donnon pro-
vided our residents with a Church ser-
vice. Rev. Donnon's four-year old
daughter, Melinda, sang four songs
for us. Thirty-six residents joined in
singing "Jesus Loves Me". Having
Melinda sing for us was a real delight.
Thank you for shining your light for
us. Melinda.
On Wednesday nine of our residents
went bowling in Zurich. Men's high
went to Neil Regan and ladies' high
to Stephanie Bosse.
There were two birthday parties
held at Queensway this week. Best
wishes go to Gertie Deeves, Jackie
Lowe and Mrs. Reta Potter.
On Saturday the ladies enjoyed a
social tea with the Exeter United

It was a booming success. We had
a wonderful afternoon of singing,
music of course and tea which was
poured by Mrs. Rodd of the Rest
Home.
We would like to thank Mr. Larry
Uyl for donating tulip bulbs for
Queensway on behalf of the Royal
Canadian Legion. They will look love-
ly in our flower beds next year.

Nursery School gets computer
This Tuesday was Open House at
the Hensall Co-op Nursery School.
Parents and visitors were on hand to
celebrate the arrival of the electronic
age to the world of the pre-schooler.
The school is one of the first in
Southwestern Ontario to provide com-
puter learning to their young
students.
Next Tuesday evening the Nursery
School is host to a workshop for Lon-
don area teachers, so they can have
hands-on experience with the com-
puter and software and take part in
a discussion on the role of computers
in our future.
Traditional events still take place
and are important to the weekly
routines of the children. Already they
have visited with Hensall Fire
Department and enjoyed a wonderful
trip to Ferguson's Honey House to
learn about bees and their special gift
to us.

Two local antique shops recently
exhibited out of town. Gresham House,

United Church
The Junior choir led the ministry of
music at the United Church on Sun-
day morning. The choir, with Belva
Fuss at the piano, sang "Take My
Life" to the very spirited tune by
Richard Rodgers. Mr. McDonald
spoke on the subject of "Lord of The
Dance" with the congregation singing
the hymn "Lord of The Dance".
Dance, he stressed is a symbol of mo-
tion and also a symbol of joy and
celebration. He told of the many
places in the Bible when dance was
used when words were not adequate
to express the experience one was go-
ing through.
Cindy Taylor greeted the congrega -
tion and Glen Slade, Doug Kyle, Rick
McGee and Larry Elder were the
ushers. During the children's time
Mr. McDonald welcomed all the
visitors to Friendship Sunday in the
Sunday School and the children sang
"0 How I Love Jesus".
The flowers at the front of the
church were placed in loving memory
of Mrs. Florence Cooper by the fami-
ly, and in loving memory of Mrs.
Susan Purdy by the family.
Mr. McDonald stressed that next
Sunday would be World Wide Com-
munion Sunday and encouraged all
members to be present to receive
communion.
Mrs. Elva Forrest, Miss Mary
Kinsman and Rev. McDonald attend-
ed the Sessions of Huron - Perth
Presbytery held at Camp Bimini,
located between Embro and Strat-
ford, on Tuesday of this past week.
