Dave Holtzmann topped "A" flight with a low gross of 37 followed by Doug Ellison's 39. Low net was won by Doug Ellison with a 33 with Don Cowan in as runnerup. Victorious in ."B" flight was Dan Brintnell with a 42 followed by Bill Farquhar one stroke back. Bill Gilfillan capped low net honours with a 34 while "B" net bridesmaid was Bill Steele with a 36. "C" Flight honours went to Doug Brooks with a 44. Runnerup was Larry Brosel at 45. Divisional low net was awarded to Larry Brosel with a 34 followed by 35 brought in by Ralph Astle. Wolfgang Slavik captured the "D" flight by turning in a 51. Close was An- dy deBoer at 53. Low net went to Andy deBoer whose score of 53 beat Don Keeping by five strokes. Nearest the pin on no. 4 was Randy Evans while, nearest the pin on no. 9 was Gabby Mol. In the on-going ancillary competi- tion, "Hole -by -Hole Champion", three golfers emerged winners. Hole nine again proved elusive and no outright winner was selected. - Because of this carryover, Series D competition which began back on August 6 will continue again next week. The wrap up competition will be held next Sunday, September 15. The men's club executive assures members of good weather. Naggers Cup Sunday, the Ironwood Golf Club en- joyed its first annual Naggers Cup sponsored by Doctors Bill and Linda Steele and 58 golfers participated in a Ironwood husband -wife two ball foursome format. First place honours went to Ken and Kim Pinder with a sparkling 42. Two strokes behind were Jeff Fuller and Kelly Livingstone while the 45 carded by Dennis and Sandra Rowe was good for third place. Nine couples were in the 46 to 49 range topped by Don and Viv Cowan's 46, Karen and Jamie Gaul's 46 and Dave and Julie Jackson's 47. The Naggers Cup topped off a good year of mixed golfing events at Iron- wood with the promise of extended events next year. Special thanks to the many local merchants who donated prizes for this event. Seelster yearlings bring top prices The 11 yearlings consigned by Seelster Farms of Lucan to Thurs- day's Select standarbred sale at Mohawks Raceway brought an average price of $26,772. Topping the Seelster list was Spencer Seelster, a McKinzie Almahurst-Satin Lobell colt purchas- ed by Dave Wall, Bruce Smith and Len Montini for $83,000. Franklin Seelster an Armbro- Splurge-Fashion Trick colt and half brother of Falcon Seelster, one of the top three year-olds this racing season went for $56,000 to Ted Jacobs of the Niagara region. Warren Seelster was sold for $15,000 and went to the Wheeling By Stables of Grand Bend. The Grand Bend stable also pur- chased two others. Houseleague at Hully Gully The morning dawned dark and foggy, but it set the stage for an ex- cellent. day of racing at Hully Gully house league trophy day, held Satur- day. Fast lines started to form during practice and the racing action was anything but dull. Starting line battles Lasted half a lap before a leader was determined. Trophies were awarded in all classes back to fifth spot, but local boy Jim Hill swept a 1-1 overall vic- tory in the experimental 80 class after a pair of holeshots and moto long battles. • The next house league action is September 25, while CMA Races return to Hully Gully, September 15. To Ride at Western Jim Dickins of Hensall had a full weekend of racing, as he rode to a se- cond finish at trophy day in the Hully Gully House League. Jim won his first race then got caught up in the mud in his second and had to come from behind to finish second. Next Saturday September 14 Jim will be racing at the Western Fair at the Grandstand show, then returning home to Hully Gully's track to race on Sunday September 15.
