Bruce Pierce was in charge of the Sunday morning worship and en- titled his message "The Church's Faith Life". We need confidence in God. 'There are four beliefs that we need to have faith and trust in God. 11 Grace, we can trust God's Grace, 2) Providence, God will provide for us, :I) we can trust God's Word the Bi- ble, -1) We have the assurance of salvation from sin and satan. Sunday School teacher Doug Brown took charge of assigning the pupils to their various classes at the start of a new term. Mrs. Jacquelin Pierce favoured with a vocal solo entitled "It took a Miracle" accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Elwyn Bryan. At St. Thomas Anglican Church the Rev. Peter Derrick was in charge of the morning prayer service assisted by John Jones as crucifer and Lois Herbert as pianist. Dow, who has resigned as organist, was presented with a pair of treble clef bookends in appreciation of her four years' of faithful service. Several from here attended the Country and .Western Jamboree at Family Paradise on Sunday after- noon. Proceeds went to the March of Dimes. Tom Laing spent Labour Day weekend in Toronto with his brother Andrew, and attended the Blue Jays ball game and the C.N.E. Caleb Gammon and Scott Zimmer have returned to their homes in Strat- ford after visiting with their grand- parents. the Allen and the Robert Laings. Mrs. Gordon Mclobert presided and welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with prayer followed by a reading. A number of business items were discussed and taken care of, including two wedding anniversary celebrations to cater for. Mrs. Robert Yardie presented a very thought provoking program bas- ed on the use of quotation marks and entitled her talk "Punctuating your Life". Unit (4) met at the home of Mrs. James Kerr, St. Marys on September 6 with Mrs. Gary Humphrey presiding and conducted the devo- tions. Mrs. Floyd Dykes gave a reading, Mrs. Gerald Dann, gave the Characteristics of a Volunteer and took the study book on Korea, which told the story of Dr. and Mrs. Ruble, missionaries in that country. Mrs. Humphrey and the hostess served lunch. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins, Mrs. Lois Ilerbert and Ilelen, also Mr. and Mrs. Gary Waugh of London, visited with Mr. John Herbert of Waterloo on Sunday. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and Lois this past week were Mr. and Mrs. Hermon Foster of Ex- eter, and Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Morley of Greenway. Kirkton WI meets By MRS. HAROLD DAVIS The August meeting of Kirkton Women's Institute was held August 22 at the Community Centre in Kirkton. The 4-11 girls, Their mothers and leaders were present. President Phyllis Rodd had charge of the meeting. The roll call "Name a floral emblem of another country or a Cana- dian Province". Margaret Crago and Elaine Stephen had charge of the meeting. Guest speaker John Stephen, spoke to the ladies and guests on his award he received in Ottawa last winter. John has been an outstanding person with U.T.C.R. and is well deserving' of recognition by the Association. Lunch was served by the committee in charge.
