peared in person to indicate they had
no_objection to the truck being park-
ed in their area. Arthur said there was
more noise from street traffic than
the -truck..
The committee members, however.
decided to turn down the application
for the minor variance. noting that it
was not minor and is not desirable to
the appropriate development or use
of the Land/building.
It was also suggested that•(he. ap-
plication was not maintaining the
general intent and purpose of the zon-
ing bylaw or the official plats. •
The -application was .the - second
from a local trucker turned down by
the plannng advisory . committee..
They previously denied permission
-for Bert and Elaine Knip to park a
truck at tiwir Sherwood Crescent
property.
That ruling was appealed to the On- -
tario Municipal Board by the Knips
'and their lawyer. Randy Evans. and
the O1 -1B ruled a non -hearing in that
the committee had not followed the
correct procedures in detailing their
decision.
-At their Wednesday meeting, the
committee also recommended to
council acceptance. of the proposal
from the South 1 Handicapped -
Services Inc. to erect Iwd group
homes at Andrew and George St.
Site plans were On display showing
each houes to have four lx'dr'oonm and
being one storey in height.
The group had previously received
permission to erect one larger semi-
detached unit on their properly. but
the new proposal was made after
council fesc•inded a portion of the u( 5
zoning bylilw to accommodate the
erection of two homes.
Residents in the area had attemp-
ted- to block the establishment of
group !Wines in the area. but general -
1}• -.agreed that if thwere to be
located ey ator t_hetre. it. would be more in
keeping the. , with residential
neighborhood to have two homes
similar in size to the existing houses
than one larger home that would have
set it apart from the neighbors
houses.

Drivers and horse
injured in collisions
Two area residents and a horse
‘fere listed among the injured from
the lour collisions by the
Exeter ()PP this week.
All four crashes occurred over the
final holiday weekend of the summer.
On F ri(iay. vehicles driven by
Douglas('owward. F:xelt'r. and Helen
Thiel. 1lerisa11. collided on Highway -t
south of Exeter. Damage was set al

h0ere was one accident on Satur-
day. i1 occurring in Hay township
when a vehicle driven by Robert
St ire. Exeter. -went into a (titch on con-
cession 6-7 south of Highway 84. The
driver sustained minor injury and
daniage was estimated at $2,1111.
The horse was injured in one of two
collisions. The animal ran into the
side of a vehicle driven by Emet•y
Villert. Thedfor(t. as the latter was
-proceeding west on Highway 8:3 near
concession 4-5. of }lay. The animal
