Greys best in Moorefield The Exeter Grey ladieg fastball team downed Cambridge 6-0 this weekend to capture the 'B" title in the Moorefield tournament. The final was a pitchers duel wtttr: Greys hurler Heidi Elliot and Cam- bridge pitcher Dianne Kells throwing shut -out ball over seven innings. , The Greys stranded seven base run- ners over the first seven innings before breaking loose with a six run rally in overtime to linch the win. The Greys advanced to the final by downing Royal City 10-9 after losing. their opening game to Elma 7-4. Greys pitcher Heidi Elliot wag named the most valuable player in the ladies division of the tournament. The Greys will be in Kirkton tonight to play Blanshard at 9 p.m. and host Usborne on Tuesday (August 20) at 9 p.m. here in Exeter. Scores from ladies slopitch Standing moved even tighter following the August 8 ladies slowpitch games. Good Times and Exeter Indianettes played to a 5-5 tie. South Ifuron Hospital defeated the Sundowners and Canadian Tire over Albatross Angels, both games with a 15-9 score. Huron Park Devils took the JJ's 13-2., Teams representing South Iluron Hospital and Downtown Dollies came away with the A and B titles respec- tively in a tournament held Saturday in Varna. After losing the opening game 16-10 to Seaforth the Exeter youngsters re- bounded to defeat Clinton 14-9 and Goderich 17-10. Forced to play three consecutive games, the locals lost 10-1 to Listowel in the final. In regular league play. Exeter split a pair of games. They edged Clinton 6-4 and lost 14-12 to Seaforth. Tomorrow night. Thursday, the pee wees will be at home to SI. Marys in an exhibition game and Monday they travel -to Dashwood. In the first game loss in Listowel. Jiri Ahrens and Ilorlen Tinney shared pitching duties for Exeter and Mark Russell contributeda three run .homer. Russell also singled. Adding two hits apiece were Horten Tinney and David Dalrymple. Mark Burton added a triple. In the 14-9 win over Clinton. Mark Russell was again the batting star with three doubles in four trips to the plate. Al Blommaert was close behind with three singles. Dave Dalrymple went the seven in- ning pitching distance to post the 17-10 Many bowlers in competition The Exeter lawn bowling club was the site Wednesday for the largest lawn bowling tournament 'of the season. A total of 34 teams participated in the annual Bankers and Business event. Doug Ross of Ingersoll was the big winner followed by Jim Watkins. Lon- don and Cliff Ashton from Clinton. Peter McFalls and son Allan from the local club won the consolation award. The club would like to thank all sponsors for their help in making the tourney a great success.
