Deitz reunion
On Sunday, July 21 the Deitz fami-
ly held their annual family reunion at
the Community Centre.. The picnic
was tobe held in McKinnon's Park.
however, a morning shower changed
the plans. About 63 people attended
from such places as. London,
Freelton. Michigan and of course
Zurich and area.
Bedour reunion
A good time was had by those from
town who attended the Bedour fami-

ly reunion on Sunday. July 21 in St.
Thomas at the Gun Club with 70 atten-
ding. Fun and games were enjoyed by
all the children/and adults. With the
highlight of the day being - a "Miss"
. Bedour Beauty pageant, for 1985.
Lucky winner was Doug Meidinger of
Truscott Ave., London. A delicious
dinner was served afterwards.
Newlyweds
Congratulations to bride and•groom
Lori Bedard and Kevin Jeffrey who
were married on Saturday, July 20 at
St. Boniface Church by Fr. Mooney.
with dinner reception held in Exeter.
The couple will be living in Zurich.
Lori is- the daughter of Tony and
Marlene Bedard and Kevin is the son
of Peter and Evelyn Jeffrey both of
the Zurich area.

Ray and Sarah Jeffrey, Jim and
Theresa BUIT and Michael and Sue
Jeffrey all of London spent Saturday
and Sunday with their mother, Mrs.
Dolly Jeffrey and attended the
Jeffrey -Bedard wedding.
Relatives from Holland visited this
past week at the home of Marinus and
Joanne Vermunt. They were his
sister, Catherine and Cornelis
Brosens on a six-week vacation in
Canada, his brother Marinus and
Case Vermunt. They also visited with
other relatives in Parkhill.
Franklin and Leona Corriveau of
Windsor spent a few days last week
with the former's sister, Madeline
and Charlie Rau. They also visited
with their son Don Corriveau in
Goderich.
Mrs. Marie Gelinas spent a few
days in London this past week with
daughter, Sharon and her husband
Keva Silverstein.
A very nice bridal shower was held
at St. Boniface School gym on Sunday
in honor of Theresa Regier, daughter
of Butch and Helen, with several
friends and relatives attending froin
various places near and far. They
received many lovely and useful gifts.
All enjoyed a delicious lunch. Theresa
is the fiance of Dwayne LaPorte.
They are planning to be married on
September 7.
Nora Corriveau enjoyed spending
last week with her daughter and son-
in-law Rose and John Kelly of London
who all motored to North Bay and
visited with son and grandson, Marc
and Cathy Kelly and family. Nora
returned back to her apartment at
Spruce Villa on Sunday.
. Mr. Telles Denomme of Painceurt,
near Chatham, is presently spending
two weeks in our area visiting with his
many brothers and sisters and their
families.
Elaine Beauchamp and children
are having a holiday with her in-laws

rothers Harry and Bill Keller
from Detroit, Michigan. spent the
weekend working on their house on
Bismark St.
Jenny and Cynthia Stark, Windsor,
spent from last Thursday to Sunday
visiting with their grandmother.
Therese Stark and several friends and
relatives in the area, also their grand-
father. Kieth,Thiel.
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Wisser, Mrs.
Josephine Dietrich and Mrs. Therese
Stark went to the Shrine in St. Marys
last Tuesday.
Fr. Mooney treated -his altar boys
to a picnic and swimming last
Tuesday.
Bus trip
The Senior Citizens are having a
four-day bus trip to Kingston and Ot-
tawa on August 19 - 22. If you are in-

Most of the residents are snuggled
into Sweaters this morning.
We regret that Mrs. Margaret Pfaff
is a patienf in St. Joseph's Hospital.
London. We all wish her a speedy
recovery.
Mr. Stephen Molnar is busy with his
little garden. Residents and staff have
enjoyed the lettuce from it, and the
tomato plants are the size of small
shrubs. The flower beds are also
showing the attention they receive
from some of the male residents.
On Wednesday evening, a video
was shown of wildlife, courtesy of the
Alexanders and Tiny Thiel.
The children from the Huron Hope
School visited on Friday morning. We
hope they enjoy their visits as much
as our residents.
Some of the residents enjoyed a bus
ride down in the area of Grand Bend
and out to the Klondike Gardens
where they were amazed at the crops
grown there. Thanks to Mr. Marc
Chalut.
Bingo was played on Friday even-
ing, followed by refreshments.

Zurich Fair this weekend
The theme for this year's Zurich
Fair is "Youth in 1985". Many ac-
tivities for youth of all ages have been
planned for the Friday evening pro-
gram and Saturday afternoon and
evening.
Friday morning, July 26, elemen-
tary school children bring their ex-
hibits of flowers, vegetables, fruits
and special projects to the Zurich
Arena for judging - Exhibits must be
in place by 11:30 a.m.
Special prizes for a family history
poster have been donated by A.B.
Printing of Zurich, and for a pioneer
display by the Huron County
Historical Society. The Zurich Lions
Club donates prize money for the
students winning the most points in
the school children's department. A
new class of exhibits for pre-school
and nursery children has been added
this year. A complete list of school
children's exhibits may be obtained
from the fair secretary Margaret
Deichert 236-4130.
The Fair gets off to an exciting start
at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26.

dolls.
Adults will be entranced by the
world of magic and comedy supplied
by Captian Bill James, an interna-
tionally know Canadian performer.
He is gifted with the ability to capture
the minds of audiences of all ages
through his clean humour and magic
acts, as well as lots of audience
participation.
The fair will be officially opened by
Paul Steckle, the Warden of Huron
County and Reeve of Stanley
Township. Other local municipal
representatives and Agricultural
Society officials will also participate
in the opening ceremonies. The con-
testants in the Zurich Fair "Queen of
the Fair" contest will be introduced
during the program, with the winner
being crowned later in the evening at
the dance.
Admission to the program is adult
$2'and public school children $1. -
Several door prizes will be given
away. the first draw scheduled for
10:00 p.m. so come early.
The annual Fair Dance will be held
•
in the Zurich Arena at 9:30 p.m.,
Mozart's Melody Makers will provide
the music for dancing. Draws will be
made throughout the evening starting
at 10:00 p.m. for door prizes. The final
draw will be a gift certificate from the
"Bayfield Village Inn" for a night's
accommodation and breakfast for
two.
Advance tickets for the dance may
be purchased from Zurich
Agricultural Society members for $7
a couple, or $8 a couple at the door.
Tickets for both the program and
the dance are also available from fair
board members and Shaw's Dairy
Store number 20. Tasty Nu Bakery
and Big Dip.
On Saturday, July 27, the Saddle
and Western Horse Show begins at
9:00 a.m.
The parade leads off at 12:30 with
the Seaforth and District High School
band.
The ever -popular baby show begins
at 2:00 p.m. Classes are up to four
months, up to eight months, up to 12
months and up to 18 mouths. with
prizes donated by the Zurich and
District Chamber of Commerce.
Five classes of men's wrist wrestl-
ing plus a ladies open class begin at
3 p.m. Prizes are donatA by Molson's
Entry fee is $2. Competitors must
register at 2:30, and live within a
20 -mile radius of Zurich.
Registration for the children's mini -
tractor pull begins at 3:30. There is a
$1 entry fee. First, second and third
prizes will be awarded in each of the
three classes.
Two money scrambles for five
years and under, and six, seven and
eight -year-olds will follow the tractor'
pull, and be held at the pavilion. .
There will be a trick horse show
featuring Silver and his rider -trainer
Ann May. She has been perfoming for
well over 20 years, so she is a real
professional.
Silver has learned to do almost
anything; he is a real performer.
Fancy Roping and Roller Board are
just a couple of acts you'll see at this
special appearance during mid-
afternoon, coinciding with the show
presented by the Exeter Horse and
Rider Club and the heavy and light
horses
Bob "Pipper" Merrier. a
knowlegable horse show announcer of
recent years, will once again add ex-
citement and his touch of humour to
the horse shows which run the dura-
tion of the Zurich Fair on July 27.
Several craft booths will be set up,
as well as exhibits and displays in the
arena and Community Centre.
The midway will be operating all
day and Saturday evening.
We also hope you will enjoy the food
prepared at the Ag. Society food booth
also in the arena.
The "Action Van" from FM 96 with
Heather.ltiscox will be providing
music and announcing activities
throughout the day.
A youth evening with musical
entertainment by a Christian rock
Group called "Forerunner" con-
cludes this year's fair activities.
