Thomsons hold
46th reunion
The 46th Thomson reunion was held
Sunday at St. Christopher Beach.
Goderich with around 70 in atten-
dance. A sumptuous pot luck dinner
was enjoyed by all. President Joyce
Foster, presided for the business and
Dorothy • Cornish, secretary -
treasurer, read the minutes from last
year.
The officers for next year will be
president Mary Thomson, vice-
president Bill Thomson and
secretary -treasurer Dorothy Cornish.
Sports committee; Judy Knetchell
and Gail Schneider; lunch Committee
Bill and Dorothy Chase.
Bruce and John Thomson, sports
committee took charge of the events.
Results were: wheel barrow race Ron
and Beatrice Fleming; most points
guessed Elaine Schneider; water it1 a
balloon Brad Chase and Susan Flem-
ing; youngest attending Crystal
Thomson . oldest attending Dick Cor-
nish; Coming longest distance David
and Hazel Moyer, Parry Sound.
A candy throw was held for the
children. A draw for a door prize of
a 6th reunion silver spoon was won by
Mabe! Stanlake,, Exeter.
The reunion will be held at the same
place next year on the third Sunday
in July. The newlyweds were in-
troduced by Bill Chase. They were
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Thomson and Mr.
and Mrs. John Thomson, also two
weddings in the near future, Mary
Thomson and Bill Chase.

and Mr. and Mrs. Les Adams, Exeter.
were dinner guests with their sister
Mrs. Hazel Corbell on Saturday
evening.
Mrs. Ruby Bell spent several days
last week with her daughter and ron-
in -law, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mason, at
their cottage at Port Albert.
Mrs. Annie Reid has been spending
a couple of weeks at the home of the
Talbots in Bayfield. her daughter
Margaret having undergone surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Knowles spent
the weekend in Toronto.
Rev. and Mrs. Bernard Clarkson of
Stoughton, Saskatchewan spent the
past week holidaying with Rev.
McDonald at the Manse.

Queensway residents enjoy
outing at Gibson cottage
On Monday July 15 everyone en-
joyed a trip to Bill Gibson's cottage
atliomesteadHeights near Bayfield.
The weather cooperated enough for
the residents to view the beautiful
gardens and lake frontage during the
tour of the grounds. While indoors we
were all treated to the culinary
delights of carrot cake and ice cream
Musical entertainment was provid-
ed by Bill on the organ.
Most of the residents made their
television debut with the help of John
and his video equipment. Special
thanks to volunteer drivers Troyann
Cole and Iva Reid.
The church service was led by Rev.
John Sutton this week. The pianist
was Ethel Forrest and volunteers
were Greta Lavender and Erlene
Stewart.
A resident council meeting was held
on Monday morning. In the afternoon
we went bowling at Town and Coun-
try Bowling Lanes in Zurich. Neil
Regan was high bowler for the men
while Muriel Gunning took honours
for the ladies.
Four ladies from the Zurich Men-
nonite Church, Vera Shantz, Marie
Gingerich, Mary Gingerich and Jean
Gingerich, were in on Thursday after-
noon for a hymn sing. At the conclu-
sion of the songs everyone enjoyed
homebaked cookies which the ladies
provided.
Friday was Tie Day at Queensway.
Residents and staff participated by
wearing their favourite ties. Prizes
were given in both the Nursing Home
and Rest Home for most colorful tie,
biggest tie, smallest tie and several
other categories. All who participated
really enjoyed themselves.

Residents of the Rest Home en-
joyed a picnic lunch on Wednesday,
Submarines were on the menu as well
as ice cream cones for dessert.
Accepts position
Miss Vicki Schroeder, Zurich, has
accepted a position with the Hensall
Medical centre and commenced her
duties there.

Mrs. Shirrayattended The Bayfield
Ladies Dessert Fashion Show and
Craft Sale on Thursday afternoon
with her cousin Mrs. L. Makins.
The residents are happy to have
Mrs. Dot Munroe returned home from
Seaforth community Hospital.
Joe and Edna McLennan had their
daughter and son-in-law Lois and
Clarence Ducharme of Kitchener to
visit with them recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen McKnight had
their daughter Mary Gravett of
Hanover visit them on Friday. .

Karen Hoffman led the ministry of
music at the United Church on Sun-
day morning with a very beautiful
solo. Mrs. Belva Fuss was organist
and Wayne Corbett and Jeff Corbett
were the ushers.
Mr. McDonald spoke on the subject
"You Can't Go It Alone In Hensall".
He used the test from Ecclesiastes
"Two are better than one, because
they have a good reward for their toll.
For it they fail, one will lift up his
fellow: but woe to him who is alone
when he falls, and has not another to
lift him up."
He spoke on how God has designed
us not for solitude but for sharing.
Christ the Master of the art of living,

The flowers at the front of the
church were placed in honour of the
marriage of Janet Bjerg and Don

the Annual Hensall Cemetery
Memorial Service to be held next Sun-
day, July 28 at 3:00 p.m.

Motocross
Hensall's two motocrossers did well
on the weekend both at 'fully Cully
Houseleague and ('MA races in Acton
on Sunday. John Kochan came in first
in the 80B class at the !louse league
('lass. and Jun Dickins won the 8UA
class.
Jim was the top-linishing Honda in
the demanding OA class, dominated
by Kawasakis and for his efforts
abord his ltully Gully Honda he
brought home the 4th place trophy.
Both boys- will be riding at the
doubleheader next Saturday and Sun-
day, July 27 and 28. at their home
track of Hully Gully. They will be
competing at the Schoolboy Canadian
Championship in Uurham on August
4 and 5.

BROUGHT TOGETHER BY A BALLOON — Greg Bauer, 10, of Euclid,
Ohio, holds a balloon similar to one released by 300 Ohio school
children in a contest two years ago. It was found by Gordon Hamilton,
13, of RR 1 Hensall, while stone -picking last year. The Hamiltons were
one of only three people who acknowledged finding one of the
balloons. The two families met on Saturday when the Bauers visited
the Hamiltons.
