Honour bride at Shipka,
4-H girl back from trip

The Shipka Community honoured
TraceyDietrich with a miscellaneous
bridal shower, Thursday evening at
.the Community Centre. About 25
neighbours. relatives and friends at-
tended. Hostesses for the evening
were' Sharon Baker, Nancy Fink-
beiner and Linda Dietrich. In the
social time were games of scabbled
words, and a contest answered with
wedding flowers. .
A presentation address was read to
Tracey by Linda Dietrich. She receiv-
ed many lovely gifts and graciously
thanked everyone. Cake and ice
cream were served for lunch.
Sports
On July 15 Shipka pee wees were
home to East Williams, with a final
score win for Shipka of 25 -11. A grand
slam home run by Jeff Bennewies
brought Shipka off to a good start.
Tim Bird had two catches and one by
Dwayne Mellin. Terry Mellin and Jeff
Bennewies had triple hits. Centre
fielder Terry Mellin and catcher
Brent Love worked together well to
stop a home run. Pitcher was, Jeff
Bennewies. A good game boys!
July 16 Shipka pee wees travelled
to Thedford diamond. This was a
game that saw Shipka drop a lead. but
,then rally back in the last of the game
only to lose by two runs. James Des-
'jardine and Jeff Bennewies handled
the pitching. Brent Love and Dwayne
Mellin were catchers. Rodney Woods
made a good play. Good field catches
made by Dwayne Mellin, Jeff Ben-
newies, Mike Vincent and Brent Love.
. • Final score.was 13-15. Next game Ju-
• ly 31. Shipka at Parkhill.
The Squirts ball game July 17 was
Lucan at Shipka, with a score of 6 -
2 in favour of Lucan.
Susan Ratz caught four flies, three
each by Scott Eagleson and Justin
Turnbull, one by Michelle Desjardine.
Good plays for Shipka were made
by Susan Ratz, Rob Desjardine and
Jeff Sweitzer.
Personals
Heather Love has returned home
from a one week 4H exchange trip to
Kentucky.
'Gerald and Mary Ellen Zielrnan
have returned from a two week holi-
day to the east coast, where they
visited in Nova Scotia, New
Brunswick and Prince Edward
Island. They travelled going down
through New York state, New Hamp-
shire and Vermont and came home
through Quebec. They enjoyed the
beauty of the Cabot Trail and lovely
flowers.
Lorne and Dorothy Fenner, return-
ed home last Wednesday after a 15
day motor trip west. as far as Calgary
and enjoyed the Calgary Stampede.
Also visited cousins Joe and Ruth
MacAreaby and Joe and Pat Sherritt.

home they stopped in Eastend.

dry weather and plagues of

Brock, Dianne, and baby Andrew, all
of London, Les and Marjorie Adams.

eter Peter. Gloria Martin Ruth and
Marjorie Adams birthday.
Mrs. Shirley Dell daughters Tanya
and Cynthia of Belleville returned
home last Saturday, after holidaying
a week with the girls aunt and uncle.
Hugh and Annie Morenz. Their
father, Cliff, motored up to drive
them home.
Some of the outings we enjoyed
were attending the Coleman reunion
picnic, visiting our aunt, Mrs. Ida
Jackson at Queensway nursing home
in Hensall, attending a matinee per-
formance of Anne of Green Gables at
Huron Country Playhouse, days at the
beach and visiting friends.
Lunch guests on Saturday noon
with us all were cousins, Anne and
Albert Coleman, London, their
daughter Marilyn Downie, of Sarnia.
Relatives and friends visiting Hugh
and I on Sunday evening were Javier
Osoria, Bill Morenz and Blanche
Chapman, all of London, Les and
Marjorie Adams, Exeter, Oscar and
Laura Miller, Melvin and Gertie
Stade, Hedy and Ervin Devine, all of
Dashwood and area, and Ed Turnbull.

Dashwood ready for birthday party

Things are looking good for
Friedsburg days.The Theme of the
parade is Happy Birthday Dashwood.
Friday evening there is a balloon lift-
off for children and the giant birthday
cake. Euchre will follow. More bands
have been signed up as well.
Mary Rader and Stacey Rader
returned home last Wednesday
following a week's visit with Bill and
Sharon Bennett. Nathan and Sarah,
at Lethbridge. Alberta. We also
visited Montana and enjoyed a trip
through the great mountains. Stacey
and Nathan had a snowball fight in
the snow.
Miss Eleanor Salmon returned
home from Nigeria Tuesday where
she will spend time with her mother
Mrs. Esther Salmon and relatives.

James Robert Reschke, infant son
of Bob and Barbara Reschke, was
baptized in Zion Lutheran Church by
Rev. M. Mellecke Sunday, July 21.

An Ecumenical church service is

Mrs. Stade. They spent the weekend.
