Bev Morgan Insurance Brokers Ltd. 238 Main St. 235-2544 A martian for Christmas The mischievous elf By Sheri Varlet', Grade 8, E.P.S. • Once upon a time there was a mischievous elf- called Ralph. He lived with Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and the other elves. He helped Santa and the other elves make toys for all the good boys and girls.. One day, a few days before Christmas, Mrs. Claus was baking some cookies. On Christmas Eve, Santa was to fill `the stockings of the good. boys and girls with the - cookies. While Mrs. Claus' was out of the room, Ralph switched the sugar and salt. he heard her coming and hur- ried out of the room. Mrs. Claus went on making cookies until she came to the partof adding sugar. She looked at the 'sugar' suspiciously. She could not smell the sweet smell of sugar. The crystals did not glitter. She wet her finger and tasted it. it was salt. She knew that Ralph had switched the sugar and salt because he was . always doing little jokes like that. Suddenly, she had an idea! For once, the joke was going to be on him. She.call- ed for Santa. He approved of the plan and agreed to tell all the elves - except Ralph. Mrs. Claus went on baking as though nothing had happened. At supper, the night before Christmas, for dessert Mrs. Claus had placed some more cookies. She placed 2 cookies in front of each slate. After they had finished the first course, they started to 'eat dessert. Everyone, except Ralph, complimented Mrs. Claus on the delicious cookies. Ralph took one bite and ran into the bathroom. He spit all the pieces of cookie.he had in his mouth in the toilet. She had given him two cookies with salt instead of sugar bak- ed in il. Re threw the rest of the cookie in the garbage. He knew now how Santa, Mrs.. Claus and the other Times -Advocate, December 22 1982 elves felt when he played a joke on them. Terrible. He came out of the bathroom and said "Okay you got me back. twill not play any more jokes P09403 .on you again. That is the story of how Santa Claus. Mrs. Claus and the other eleves taught Ralph a lesson. By Brent Bell Grade 6, E.P.S. In Exeter, Ontario, on December 25, 1982, an uniden- ' tified flying object was reported. The thing that came out was a green thing that looked like a Christmas light. This weird thing went to my house and saw Santa on the door. The martian said; "Hi earthling". But there wasno answer. He said it again. Then he went. to shake his hand and it rip- ped. He went in the house and looked at a tree. He jumped. He was amazed to see his . friends on the tree. He dash- ed. to the tree and went to a Light. - He said, "Hi!" It didn't say anything. Then all of a sud- den, the tamp flashed on. The martianstood still. A. human said, "Dad look what I've got". Thedad thought whenhe got his son the martian. The. martian then disaappeared. Theson said, Dad were did he go?" The dad said "I don't know, son". Then all of a sud- den, they heard a noise. "What is it, dad,?" asked the boy." "1 don't know son," The lesson to be learned is ',that a martian or martians should nor land on earth on Christmas day. • Your Homeland and• •e.n.ee e.,,.u. - .e v... rvmdvre • 11)`3 •PPl,on"' de" 1 MAIN ST.• EXETER 235-19b4 s /J / J /j /] /J /j s jj /j /j t it r is .! .• ,i .s ,= l° .= l•j ° /j .i .i .t r .° .t ° ,° •° •/j ••j i1Y O T/7/Y O;0VV/P: l7'4:04:0:0:0:03131: :1R:.:0:Y1R:ad ;0:Y:Y;a 7/A CHRISTMAS GIFTS KNIVES Olympic sword 10 pc. set La Chef 3.pc. set Butcher Shop 3 pc. set Castle Collection. 14 pc. set pre -priced 90.00 only$ ■ 8.95 pre -priced 50.00. only 13.95 pre -priced 35.00, only 13,75 pre -priced 99.00 only 26.99 Teflon 1I Olympic Skillet Sets 2 fry pans, pre -priced 39.00 $19.95 Watches (wind up) $1 1 .50 Quasar quartz Watches $15.00 Timex Selected models 25% Off Set Silver Calculator and Silver Pen Watch $16.99 Glass Bowls $3.75 Desk Organizer With Clock Alarm $22.99 1182 Canada Coin Sets $7.95 Men's Wallets $4.00 Men's 4 pc.
