tion • for the Mentally
Handicapped.
"The Ambassadors Dance
Band provided excellent
dance music and the over for-
ty members of the Dykehop-
pers Troup provided music,
dancing and entertainment in
the Dutch "Carnival"
tradition.
Honorary membership in
the Dykehoppers as evidenc-
ed by the presentation of the
Wooden Shoe Medal was
presented to Murray Cardiff,
M.P.,-Jack Riddell, M.P.P.,
Lossie Fuller, on behalf of
Bruce Shaw, mayor of Ex-
eter, George Godbolt, presi-
dent of the Exeter Lions Club,
John Norris, vice-president,
Exeter Lions Club and
organizer of this event and
Herb Verbeek, president of
the South Huron Association
for the Mentally
Handicapped.

Hensel' United Church was
filled to capacity on Sunday
morning for the 135th An-
niversary Service. The ser-
vice was conducted by the
minister Rev. McDonald, and
the guest minister was Rev.
W.D. Jarvis of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church in
Tillsonburg. Mr. Jarvis spoke
on the subject of "The
Greatest Commandment -
Love". He stated how the real
need in the world today is for
love, in families, in
neighbourhoods, in our nation
and in the world.
Mr. Jarvis spoke of how
pleased he was to be back in
Hensall were he had served
for eight years, and some of
the joys and sorrows he had
shared with his congregation.
Mary, Moffatt was the
organist and the guest choir
was The Men -Of -Accord'
from London. This thirty-two
voice Barbershop Choir thrill-
ed and inspired the congrega-
tion with their leadership in
music . Much appreciation was
shown to the chair and many
of the congregation are
already planning to attend the
Spring Concert in April of the
Barbershop Groups. Tickets
are available from the church
office.
The children's story was
"Jesus is the Rock" and the
children sang Jesus is the
Rock of My Salvation.
The church was beautifully
decorated by Dianne
Gerstenkorn and Shirley
McAllister. Following the ser-
vice a luncheon was held in
the Fellowship Hall as well as
the Church Hall and following
the luncheon the Men-of-
Accord
en-of-Accord presented a concert
for the congregation
The ushers for the service
were Scott Jamieson, Dwight
Consitt, Murray McGregor
and Steve Corbett. Mr. and
Mrs. Doug Cook greeted the
congregation.
Announcement was made
of the Annual Tea Bazaar and
Bake Sale to be held in the
church on Thursday' after-
noon and also of the
Fellowship Evening when
Brad Cann will be the special
guest.

Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid
met Tuesday with group two
and _ conveners, Mrst' Ray
Rader and Mrs. Earl Keller,
in charge of devotions and
lunch. President, Mrs.
Florence Martene opened the
meeting. Pastor Mellecke
took for the topic, Peter meets
a Roman soldier.
Mrs. Irvin Rader had the
i.cipe to a scripture cake
with the ladies finding the in-
gredients from verses in the
Bible.
Mrs. Martene dealt with the
business. .The roll call was
answered by 21 ladies. The
Altar Guild reported seven
visits and two plants sent. The
new Guild is Mrs. Harvey
Beier)ing and Mrs. Irvin
Rader. Cards of thanks and
donations were received. An
invitation from the CWL of
Mt. Carmel for a pot luck sup-.
per December 7 was
accepted.
Donations were made to
Family and Children Ser-
vices, the Mission treasury,
Lutherwood and the Lutheran
Seminary, St. ,Catharines.

Calvary United church
ladies met Tuesday with the
Christian Development com-
mittee in charge. Mrs. Harold
Hendrick presided for the
program with the theme
"Essentials of the Christian
Life" with suitable readings
and hymns. In Flanders
Fields was read and a
moments silence observed.
Rev. Barbara Laing closed
the program with prayer.
President, Mrs. Don Gaiser
presided for the business. Fif-
teen members answered the
roll call. The Sunshine com-
mittee for November and
December is Mrs. Mildred
Kellerman and Mrs. T. H.
Hoffman: The shut-in box
committee is Mrs. Ken
McCrae, Mrs. Syd Baker and
Mrs. Eben Weigand. The
report of the nominating com-
mittee will be given. at . the
next meeting.
Cards of thanks were read.
Eight members attended the
Greenway United Church
Ecumenical service and the
Regional Rally at Thames
Road United church. An in-
vitation from the CWL at Mt.
Carmel for December 7 was
accepted. The Christmas
Ecumenical service for
Dashwood and area will be
held at the United church
December 5. The Mission and
Services for 1983 will be $700.
The Christmas meeting will
be December 14 at 8 p.m.
open to all adults of the
church at $5 each to go to the
carpet fund. Donations were
made to charities.

'they were always scrapping;

got hit on the head; Ron

foul balls; Joan Willemsen,
old horse shoe, better luck
next year; George Dunn, a
shopping cart; Willie
O'Rourke, mop, for cleaning
, up after everybody; Josie
Coca, chest protector, never
able to hit the ball.

Dashwood native John
Kellerman ran for mayor of
Toronto and came in fourth.
There were 11 candidates.
John had 3,031 votes.
The funeral for the late
Grace Kellerman was held at
the T. H. Hoffman Funeral
Home Saturday, November 13
with pallbelarers, David and
Betty Phillips,.Misses Bren-
da, Barbara and Sharon
Broughton and Gary
Waldrick.
Flowers in the United
church, Sunday were from
the Kellerman and Eagleson
funerals and in the Lutheran
church from the Eagleson
funeral. These. were placed in
loving memory by the
families of Grace Kellerman
and Mrs. William Eagleson.
Guests with Mrs. Mildred
Kellerman over the weekend
were her son. John, Toronto:
and others from Elliot Lake,
Sudbury. London, Hespeler,
Walkerton and Kitchener.

morning service, enjoyed the

the day with Mr. and Mrs.
