Legion helps remember
Milt does tongue revealt is CGIT roll call
alis. 1. SUAV lEes
Gronton
Jude Anderson chaired
the previous meeting when
the roll call was answered to
what does your tongue
reveal about you? The
members learned that. our
tongue tells much about us -
the country from which we
came, whether we are sick or
not, what kind of person we
are, `and what our chief in-
terest in life is.
The girls then continued to
learn about their tongues in a
Bible study, by pairing up to
study certain passages in the
Bible, then explaining what
purpose the tongue had in
their reading. It was a very
interesting meeting and the
members found that their
tongues have many very im-
portant uses. Christine Cur-
. rah and Jennie Anderson read
a poem on "What Love Is".
The Granton C.G.I.T. and
their leaders met at the
United Church on Wednesday
evening. The meeting opened
with the singing of "God Bless
our Native Land". Leader.
Mrs. McRobert took her

message from Jeremiah 4:14.
where she compared life to
our flag. During the roll call
the girls discussed whether
the making of war defences
should be banned.
In her lesson, leader Mrs.
Harloff told the members that
we are all soldiers and
teenagers especially have to
fight wars in everyday living.
in such things as taking a
stand against drugs, alcohol
and skipping school, etc.
These are wars of good living
that give everyone peace and
love.
After singing, "Let there be
Peace on Earth" the girls
formed a human continum to
learn if they were spiritually
equipped to go out into the
world to do battle and bring
peace based on Ephesians
6:1-18. A couple of games
were played both showing
how life is built on trust and
cooperation so that people can
benefit; but how through our
natural tendency to satisfy
our ego with being superior to
others, or by selfishness or
greed, it is hard to do so.
Explorers news
The Granton Explorers met
on Monday in the United
Church basement. Pamela
Waters was responsible for
planning the meeting. Follow-
ing the Bible story Pamela
read a poem for Remem-
• brance Day. The roll call was
answered by "Why do we
wear a poppy pn Remem-
brance Day?"
Carrie Wallis earned her se-
cond Blue Star and Jodi Urlin
her first Blue Star. ..
The girls decorated bars of
soap for their craft. After
playing some games, Pamela
served a snack and the
meeting closed with Taps.
Pamela earned her Second
Blue Star for planning this
meeting.

The Rev. Pierce entitled his
sermon "Focus on the Fami-
ly." Parents these days get
very little .support for their
values, they are up against
outside influences. Parents
should assert themselves
when the unity of their fami-
ly is threatened, parents
should give their children
standards to five by and a God
to worship. Most children will
go their own way; but after a
while they will come back to
their parents' values.
The Christian family is lov-
ing and caring, the greatest
gift that you can give your
children is the assurance that
they are important. There are
children in homes that are
lonely and ignored, because
there is nobody to listen and
understand.
In conclusion, the Minister
said "Parents have a tremen-
dous obligation, to love your
children, enjoy them while
they are young and lead them
to become Christians in ear-
ly life."
At St. Thomas Anglican
Church, the Rev Frank
Braley of -Stratford, was in
charge of the service. The two
lessons were read by Ken
Hoare and Steven Ready. The
Rev. Braley based his sermon
on the hymn "How firm a
foundation. ye saints of the
Lord," referring to the second
lesson from Hewbrews
10:31-39.
The congregation was ask-
ed to remember the Saints
during November which
starts with All Saints Day,
also to remember those who'
offered their lives in the Great
War to end all Wars, that was
followed by another global
conflict and other smaller
wars in the Middle East and
Ireland, in which many other
lives were laid down for their
fellow menus Jesus did 2000
years ago.
