Wilson 509 2 • 16 Lucan Cup Hockey fans in the area are reminded of the third annual Lucan Challenge Cup to be - held at the Lucan arena on the weekend of December 3, 4 and 5. The third edition of this popular tournament will feature 16.ofthe best recrea- tion type hockey teams in On- tario and the northern United States. This year's president Tom Hardy is confident that a number of European teams will accept the invitation to participate in the Lucan tourney within a year or two and he also expects Bobby Hull will be in with a club in the near future. In addition to trophies, the "A" championship team will receive $1,000 and the run- nerup gets $600 and $500 goes to the "B" champ. Youth from around Mid- dlesex county were invited to attend county council as part of Optimist Youth Apprecia- tion Week. CHEQUE PRESENTATION — Fred Dobbs, IPM chairman of gates and parking, presents a cheque for $3,000 to CCAT student representative Bill Benning while col- lege principal Doug Jamieson looks on. Marauders lose two • After winning the first two games of the regular South season, Huron hockey league the Centralia Marauders were on the short end of the score in two outings this week. Friday night at the Stephen arena, the Marauders were edged 4-3 by St, Marys in an interlocking game with the North Oxford league and Sun- day afternoon they lost 5-3 to the Zurich Buckeyes. At one point early in the se- cond period in Sunday's con- test, the Buckeyes were in front by a 5-1 score. The Marauders rallied but fell two goals short: The only first period Cen- tralia goal was fired by Mark Cronyn on a three-way com- bination with Blair Hearn and Perry Knee. Jeff O'Brien notched the first Zurich score on passes from Ron Rader and Marvin Merner and in quick succes-' sion Dan Lagerwerf con- verted a pass from Scott Con- sitt and Ron Rader registered with passing help from O'Brien and Merner. Early in the second period, Marvin Merner hit on a pass from Mike Clarke and Jeff O'Brien scored again with the pass coming from Greg Kirk. The final scores for the Marauders came from the sticks of Matt Muller from Perry Knee and Doug Regier and Dave O'Neil with Mark Crenyn and Blair. Hearn assisting. In the loss to St. Marys, the Marauders scored the first goal of the game and then St. Marys fired four straight suc- cessful shots to take a lead which they never relinquished.
