It was the first time local high school represen- tatives had ever made the top five on a team level against the best from other schools from any parts of the province of Ontario. The girls field hockey team lost a close game in the semi-final rand and finished up as third best in the 16 team competition - Congratulations are certainly in order to coach Jim W ork nan and the girls for an excellent effort. They put in a lot of time and hard work in practices and for a number of years the team has won Huron -Perth cham- pionships and this year the WOSSA title and the right to go to the provincial'level. This. sport is not very well known in this part of the country. but, thanks to Jim Workman and his dedicated team it will get much more support. It seems that each year and this has to be dose to Wertman's expertise add dedication the team's record improves and we wouldn't be too surprised very many years down the road to talking about the all -Ontario field hockey champions from South Huron. At the same time. the Ievel of capabilities of the South Huron cross country is improving at about the same speed. Here gin a lot of credit goes to the coach. Joe Fulop has persevered over the years in generating his runners to newer heights and records of excellence. This year at the Ontario finals, the South Huron senior girls crass country team finished in fifth spot overall, another commendable record. The same congratulations go out to the sinners and their coaches Joe Fulop and Dave McClure.
