Lake Huron, is one of
Canada's three heavy water
plants. Heavy water is used in
the productionof nuclear
energy. Over 7,000 people
work at the generating sta-
tion, coming from all over
southwestern Ontario.
The field . trip helped the
students understand nuclear
energy, its production and
use.

The Ausable-Bayfield Con-
servation Authority has
received technical approval
for an erosiotf control project
along the _Ausable River
"Cut" in the community of
Port Franks.
In approving the project,
Natural Resources Minister
Alan Pope said that the
remedial works will -prevent _
further property loss for five
lots in Registered Plans 41
and 456, but more important-
ly will prevent further erosion
of the dyke which protects the
.38 homes and cottages in
Registered Plan 41 from the
floodwaters of the Ausable
River.
The total cost of theerosion
control work, proposed for
completion this year, is
estimated at 655,000. and
would be eligible for a regular
provincial grant of $30,250.
