Close call at Clandeboye
Mr. and Mrs. Rea Neil had
a terrifying experience Sun-
day evening. While Rea was
doing chores he heard sounds
like gun shots, at the end of
the barn and the lights in the
barn went dim.
When he stepped out of the
barn to check on the noise he
found fire starting around the
hydro stack attached to the
barn. He made his way over
the bales of hay. in the loft of
the barn with pails of water
and managed to douse it then
• ran to the house to call the fire
department.
There was some mix up get-
ting the message through to
the firemen as they went
north three miles too far
before getting the proper
message.
In the meantime, Rea hur-
ried.back to the barn only to
find the fire starting to flame
again. They shut the hydro otf
and started carrying water
again, managing to control it
until the firemen arrived.
