St. Andrews Church, Kip - pen celebrated the 115th an- niversary October 31 with Pastor Donald B. Moffat speaking on "Faith for the past, present and future". Inspirational music was supplied by Pete Postill who sang "I asked the Lord," "Somebody bigger," "The Voice in the Wilderness," and "Suddenly there's a valley". The choir under the director- ship of Mrs. Gerald Moffatt sang "If we all said a prayer" Personals Mrs. Hugh Alderdice is spending a Week at the home of her son and daughter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Jones entertained Sunday in honour of the 40th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gackstetter, Guelph attended Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones' anniversary party. WALPER Commencement exercises were held on Friday evening at South Huron District High School. Marilyn Walper and Jim Ward received the Secon- dary School Graduation Diploma (Grade 12) and Elizabeth Walper received the Secondary School Honour Graduation Diploma (Grade 13). Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Reid Vi- pond, London visited their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Ken Smithers, Sunday. The sympathy of the com- munity is extended to Cory and Louise Vandenberk on the death of her mother Mrs. Henricus Timmermans, and the relatives of Ivan Sharp who passed away recently. Everyone enjoyed the fine weather of the past few weeks and especially the farmers of the area who have been work- ing day and night to finish the harvesting of beans and corn and get the fall ploughing completed. Allan Hayter has been in Rainy River on business. It was a very special day at Greenway United Church Sunday when a beautiful oak wall cross was dedicated to the glory of Godin memory of Bae and Lloyd Brophey by their family. The scripture was read by Marion Larmer and the Rev.. Moore spoke on "The Calling of the Cross." The choirs united to -provide special music for the occasion. Hallowe'en passed quietly in our area. A few spooks were on the prowl. Animals walked on two feet instead of their usual four and witches flitted by the window. If anyone finds a broomstick please return it to Greenway as one witch lost hers and had to ride in a car. I hope you had a happy Hallowe'en. Mrs. Jack Burchill dealt with the topic, Resolutions, reviewing from the Hand Book how to draft a resolution at branch level and how to present it to District and Area levels. She was thanked by Mrs. Harburn. Roll Call - A modern pro- blem which should be the con- cern of the Women's Institute brought forth such answers as; 1. non-prescription drugs, 2. sprays, 3. more nutritious foods at our schools and 4. the public response to night school classes. President Mrs. Lloyd Miller presided for the business, a donation was made to the Children's Aid Christmas boxes. Members were reminded the District Ex- ecutive Banquet at Russeldale Hall November 2. . Resolutions to be presented at the area convention were discussed. An adult short course, "More Cents than Dollars," is coming up. Mrs. Bill Mahon and Mrs. Arthur Smale have volunteered to go to training school and come back and teach this in the community. Anyone interested in taking this course please contact Mrs. Lloyd Miller, Mrs. Bill Mahon or Mrs. Arthur Smale. Refreshments were served at the close by Mrs. Cameron Vi- vian and the hostess Mrs. Douglas. Shipka hunters return home By MRS. HUGH MORENZ Shipko Cliff, Doug and T.om Russell, and Rick Raeburn, returned Monday from a moose hunting trip at Wawa, on the eastern shore of Lake Superior. Sincere sympathy of this community is extended to Mary Dietrich', her family and grandchildren in the sud- den death of Lorne Dietrich, Thursday October\ 28, at University Hospital, London: Cliff and Velma Russell moved this weekend to the home in Dashwood they pur- chased from Ted Ducharme. Don, Ann and Chantal Russell have moved to the farm home vacated by Don's parents. Norbert Herrerias, son-in- law of Sid and Eleanor Dune, was featured in a full page color section on food, in a re- cent issue of the London Free Press, ,at his restaurant in London where he is a chef.
