The grade eight class from
.Usborne Central School left
for Camp Sylvan Wednesday,
September 22 and stayed for
three days.
While we wer4 at camp
Sylvan we built shelters,
learned about forestry,
astronomy, the history of
Sylvan, and many other in-
teresting events.
This excursion was a good
learning experience for the
whole class and was one that
we will never forget.
We would like to give
special thanks to everyone
who came out to make our
trip a total success.

October 8, the grade eight
class put on an assembly
about their Camp Sylvan trip.
The trip seemed to Piave a
main theme - rain. They sang
some of their camp songs and
we joined in.
Parents who attended the
assembly also were invited to
sing along. They acted out
several skits, one of which in-
volved Chief Featherbrain in-
ducting four new tribe
members.
We all had a good laugh
when Kenny Miller had to sit
on some wet sponges in order
to become a member of the
tribe. Tracey Oke and Lisa
Hern played several piano
pieces for us. Everyone en-
joyed the performance.

Thursday, October 7 we
went to the South Huron
Recreation Centre for our an-
nual cross country meet.
Senior boys ran about 3.5
kilometers to start off the
races and Gary Parsons was
our first to finish.
Next came the senior girls
where Carolyn Hoonaard
placed fourth and Sandra
Kecknie placed fifth. Our in-
termediate boys .did so well
they won the pennant and got
their picture in the paper.
You should have seen the
rain come down in our race.
The trail was all mud and our'
clothes got very heavy. The
two junior races completed
the morning's competition
successfully.
