September 12, members of
Alpha Pi were awakened
from a deep sleep very early
in the morning and driven to
the home of Sharon Lynn's for
a surprise kidnap breakfast.
A delicious meal was enjoyed
by all and various prizes were
won. Following the meal a
short meeting was held to
discuss what float we would
enter in the Exeter fair

The Thanksgiving meeting
of the United Church Women
was held on October 12 at the
home of Mrs. Alex Garten-
burg. The meeting opened
with a Thanksgiving reading
by president, Mrs. Glenn
Copeland.
The minutes,roll call and
correspondence were dealt
with. An invitation was
received from Zion West
U.C.W. to join with them
November 3 at 8 p.m. It was
also decided to cater to the.
Optimist Banquet on
November 8th.
Group 1 with Mrs. Alex
Gartenburg convener was in
charge of the Worship Ser-
vice, the theme being
"Harvest Blessings". The
poem "We Thank Thee" was
read followed by the scripture
by Mrs. Ralph King. A
reading "How much We
Owe" was read by Mrs. Gor-

The September meeting of
the Elimville Women's In-
stitute was opened by a
reading, A Boy's Thanksgiv-
ing by president Mrs. Isabel
Fletcher followed by the Ode
and Mary Stewart Collect.
Roll call, "My favorite
cheese and how I serve it"
was announced.
The meeting was turned
over to Mrs. Leona Morley
and Mrs. Gladys Skinner. A

was given by Mrs. Morley.
Guest speaker Mrs. Helene
Cameron gave atalk on a
Conference held in Port Elgin
on Rural Women and Mental
Health toward deeper
understanding and positive
action also an exchange of in-
formation and where to ob-
tain help where it is needed.
Mrs. Skinner thanked her and
the meeting was turned over

Mrs. Fletcher gave a report
of the rally held in Grand
Bend and she is also the
delegate to go to St. Marys to
the London area convention.
Lunch was served and Mrs.
Skinner tried to teach to
ladies how to cover a clothes
hanger which all enjoyed.

'making Christmas
decoration.

Personals
The fall anniversary of the
United Church was held Sun-
day' with Rev. William Moore,
St. Marys United Church as
guest speaker. The choir sang
Women Today
The Huron County group,
Women Today, plans a second
annual series of workshops.
"It's Just Your Nerves" is
the title of the first session, to
be held at Seaforth Public
School in Seaforth in
November, followed by
"Dependence/Indepence"in
Exeter in December. Women
and the media is the topic of
the January session, to be
held in Wingham. All the
workshops will be held in the
evenings, with exact dates
and locations to be
announced.
A day long seminar on
creativity will be held in
February, with another day
long session on "Communica-
tion in Partnershi . ;" for me
and women to be held in the
Goderich area in March. Also
in February, Women Today
will host an evening workshop
on aging and self-esteem, title
ed "When the Bloom is Otf the
Rose", tote held in Clinton.
A session on domestic
violence is planned for April
and will be beld in Clinton,
while a workshop entitled
"Birthing: Options and Op-
portunities" will be held in
Goderich in May. Both are
evening sessions.

display on the group's educa-
tional activities over its two
year his ory at the Rural
Women and Mental Health
