Lucan United Church was
beautifully decorated with
fruits of harvest as members
and friends gathered for
Thanksgiving service Sunday
morning. Bill and Judy Darl-
ing were at the door to
welcome worshippers.
The junior choir, directed
by Linda Fronts sang praises
to God with two hymns, "O
Lard of Heaven and earth and
sea' and "I know that God is
Great". The senior Moir also
- praised God with their
anthem.
Marguerite McRoberts told
the children a story about tit-
tle Peter who discovered that
his heart is like a garden and
that God wants to remove the
ugly weeds of and make it
beautiful_ Thehildren and
their helpers then went to
Junior Chinet where Barb
Gibson was in charge.
Mr. Brown spoke about
Harvest Joy, pointing out that
of all people, Christians have
the most to be thankful about
as they enjoy the blessing of
knowing God as a caring and
forgiving Father. His tem-
poral blessings become
especially obvious at Harvest
time_ It is only reasonable to
thank Him far good harvests,
for He is the One who pro-
vides them_ -
Harvest Joy is meant to be
uaoiverseL Yet vast members
of the earth's peapie are
deprived of this joy. some of
them because our life style
and demands exploit then.
Harvest Joy is meant to be
a Holy Joy. primarily an act
of worship of God for His pro-
vision - not merely an occa-
sion to gather rated the table
to enjoy its fest .
A botx tifui harvest is a sign
of God's activity and a proof
of God's faithfulness_ It is an
evidence of an intelligent
Creator and a Iavitilg God who
goes on pouring out I•fis love
upon us despite our
ingratitude_ -
Mr Brown concluded by
reonbrAag the coogregatian
that God's faithfaieess in pro-
viding for ptniecal necessities
is an illustration of His abili-
ty to provide abi odanth• for

trying for a spot on council.
Smith in confirming his
nomination intentions said,
"It's not good to have ac-

Another possible council
candidate is Rob Brady. He
made an unsuccessful bid in
