Fire hits Once again a major fire has taken its toll on Dashwood. Shortly after 10:00 a.m. the siren sounded and people seeking the source had no trouble, as billows of smoke and flames roared toward the sky from the Arc Warehouse, which also housed the raw materials for the United Plastics Components Ltd. Before it was over the home of Ivan and Shirley Grigg was gutted. Six brigades fought the blaze. Residents on the west side of Dashwood were evacuated due to the acid gas fumes. Dashwood Hotel and Zion Lutheran Church served coffee and sandwiches to the firemen. How thankful we should be for our volunteer firemen and to Dashwood's water supply. • Final Clearance Of Summer Jackets a greatly reduced prices sg,,king Wood FASHIONS FOR HER 375 Main Street, Exeter 235-2460 sk SoUTH•HtRO\' DISTRICT A -FAIR SIZED SUNFLOWER — Checking t e size of a sunflower at the Exeter Fall - Fair Friday afternoon were Reg McDonald and Wilmer Dalrymple. , Color me Continued from page 8 ordinated makeup, multihued chiffon -like scarves for each season, and costume jewellery). Here are some easy and inexpensive ways to get more from your heating system. Start the heating season off with a clean filter on your fumace and clean or replace it at least once a month during the winter. If your home has baseboard, fan -forced, or wall -mounted heaters, take your vacuum leaner to them now and occasionally during the winter. A glass or metal fire -screen installed on the fireplace will -help control the amount of heat wasted up the chimney. When you're not using the fireplace, close the fire -screen doors and the damper. If you don't intend to use the fire- place at all this winter, it's a good idea to seal the opening. Take a look at your fumiture arrangement. Be sure that heating outlets aren't blocked by fumi- ture, as this can impede air circulation. If your home is heated bybaseboard units, keep win- dow drapes at (east 6" above the unit. Check to make sure your weatherstripping is around all doors and windows and in good condition. Seal any cracks by caulking. Weather- stripping and caulking cost little and pay off quickly. 235-1350 Exeter Public Utilities Commission Chairman - Murray Greene Chan Livingstone, Bruce Shaw EXETER'S LARGEST DEPARTMENT STORE MAIN ST., EXETER 235-0270
