Thames Rood Some 30 ladles gathered at the church Monday evening for a smorgasbord pot luck Supper. After the dishes were finish- ed Mrs. Ted Kernick welcom- ed everyone to the 20th year celebration ,meeting. Mrs. Kernick gave the Call to Worship and Mrs. Fleming Simpson led in prayer. Mrs. Carl Hume read the Scripture Lesson Luke 10:38-42 and also gave the Meditation. Mrs. Ted Kernick was in charge of a skit "For Women in the Past". The response was given by Mrs. Ross Hodgert, Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. Hume, An Anniversary, Celebration program of which has happened over the past 20 years. Women's Missionary Socie- ty given by Mrs. Hume; Supp- ly Convener, Mrs. Simpson; Finance, Mrs. Hodgert; Manse Committee, Mrs. Hume; Social, Mrs. Simpson; Treasurer, Mrs. Hodgert; Community Friendship, Mrs. Hume; Overseas Missions, Mrs. Simpson; Women's Association, Mrs. Hodgert, In 1940, W.A. & W.M.S. Mrs. Ted Kernick, The minutes of the first' fueling of January 3, 1962 was read by secretary Mrs. Bev Morgan. Candles representing the 20 years of presidency were lit by the president years 1962 and 1963 Mrs. Kay Cann. Her niece Mrs. Reg Hodgert lit the candle; years 1964 and 1965 the late Jean Miller, the candles were lit by Mrs. Ken Duncan; years 1966-67 Mrs. Don Kernick; years 1968.69Mrs. Bill Rohde; years 1970-71 Mrs. Floyd Stewart; years 1972-73 Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne; years 1974-75 Mrs. Lee Webber; 1976-77 Mrs. Glen Stewart; 1978-79 Mrs. Bill Rohde; 1980-81 Mrs. Murray Dawson, her cartdles were lit by Mrs. Ted Kernick. Each president gave a short resume of when they held the office, which proved to be quite interesting. Mrs. Reg Hodgert pianist played the anniversary waltz. Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. Hume received the offering and Mrs. Ross Hodgert offered prayer. Mrs. Ken Duncan president opened the meeting with a poem. The usual business was dealt with. Mrs. Duncan told about the Thank Offering meeting to be held October 4, the regional meeting to be held in our church on October 5 at 7 p.m. All the hymns that were sung at the meeting were sung at the January meeting, 1962. The hostess was Mrs. Jean Allen. Church Service The regular church service was was held Sunday morn- ing with Rev. Robert' Matheson in charge. The children story 'was entitled "You Are What You Sing". The sermon was entitled "Stop! Now, what's that sound?" Sometimes we fail to see any design in the miracles Jesus performed and yet the writers of the Gospels often used the miracles of Jesus to show a weakness on the part of his , followers and a weakness wesharewiththem . In Mark 7:31-37 Jesus heals a deaf man. He demonstrated that his disciples are deaf because they fail to com- prehend and follow his teachings - we share in this failure because it is, after all, human nature to be imperf ct. Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde visited Saturday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Russell Morley, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Murray Dawson were at a convention in Ott tawa last week. Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde were supper guests with, Mr. & Mrs. Calvin Rohde, Kipen. Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Doell of Sebringville were also guests. Good money for photos 1 Times -Advocate, September 22, 1982 Ot'S By Dolores Shapton Camera fans can make some good prize money as well as promote Exeter Fair when they take pictures of Exeter Fair and enter in the Photographic Competition sponsored by the Ontari8 Association of Agriculture Societies. There are eight categories for 2" x 2" coloured slides preferably 35 m.m. and one print section to be entered with the secretary by November 6, 1982. The slides are judged on the basis of 50 per cent photographic and 50 per cent content. Sounds easy eh!! Are you the camera fan who helped Exeter Agricultural Society win Reserve Champion in Class C Fairs at 1982 Convention. Con- gratulations.
