Girls shouldn't be unhappy with Their looks
Sly MRS. E. SUMMERS
Granton
The Granton C.G.I.T. met
for their first meeting of the
year Wednesday at the
church with ten girls present.
Mrs. Robt. Harloff leader,
based her lesson on James 1:
and told how the Bible is a
mirror in which we can find
ourselves as we are by
nature.
The theme this year is
"Growing Pains and First
Md". For this meeting time
was spent on the subject "I
am what I look like". It was
shown that teenage girls are
generally unhappy about
their looks, but fortunately we
learn through like, physical.
appearances are never in-
tended to give people their
sense of self-worth, said Mrs.
Harloff..
A prayer "Why don't I fit
in" was read and fun songs
about their topic was sung.
It was then time for a treat
and a giant sundae was con-
structed and shared by all.
Church news
At the Granton United the
Rev. Bruce Pierce was in
charge of the worship and
took the text for his sermon
from Mark 5: 25-34 and entitl-
• ed it Touching the Living
Christ. This was the story of
the woman who touched
Jesus' garment and was heal-
ed of a sickness that she had
suffered with for a long time.
This was an example of faith,
this was not just a coin-
cidence, it was a miracle, said
the Minister "One Can Say If
only I had more faith, but it is
the question of using the faith
that you have. If anyone is
ashamed today, put your
trust in the One who can make
you whole, put your trust in
God.
St. Thomas . Anglican
.Church held their Harvest
Thanksgiving Service, joined
by the two other churches of
the parish, Salntsbury and St.
Patrick's. The Parish
Eucharist was celebrated
with 'the Celebrant being the
Rev. Greg Smith assisted by
John Herbert.
The church was nicely
decorated with a Harvest
Theme. In the children's time
the rector sang and accom-
panied the children in his
guitar. Mrs. Jim Hodgins
