Bill -and Shirley Jenner and lantily of Essex spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Headrick. Cietenee and Thelma Har - wick ol Adrian, Michigan and Maxine Lampson of Pontiac, Michigan spent a few days last week in the area and were Thursday supper guests of Jerome and Carmel Sweeney and girls. • Congratulations td Michelle and Steve Haberer, Zurich on the arrival of their first baby, a little girl Lindsay, who was born on Saturday, August 21 in St. Marys. She is a grand- daughter for Fred and Audrey Haberer, Zurich. Theresa Hartman and several family members at- tended the wedding of Bren- da Hartman in Windsor on Saturday. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hartman, Windsor. Michael and Yvonne Hart- man of Montreal are spending a couple of weeks in town visiting with their mothers and relatives in the area, and attending their niece's wed- ding in Windsor and the 25th anniversary of a brother on the Weekend. Gary and Anne Geoffrey and family of St. Catharines spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Geoffrey, along with Mary Ann and Jim Vanos and children of Toronto and Jerome and Berry Anne Geof- frey and family of TilLson- burg. All enjoyed the Bean festival. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Scott returned home ftom a two week vacation recently visiting with family and relatives up north and New Liskeard and had company from the states for the bean festival. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Soudant for two weeks from Holland are his sister and sister-in-law and brother and son who came es- pecially to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Bro. Edgar Hoffman from Holy Redeemer College, Windsor, Ont. spent last Wednesday and Thursday with his brother Abbey Hoffman. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Parrish Sr. of Ohio spent the weekend with their son and daughter- in-law, Ron and Kim Parrish of the Frederick St. Apts. and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oesch. ' The ladies' bowling league held their meeting at the Town and Country lanes recently with the executive team for this year. The Pin7 Heads (Rose Regier's tam) in charge. The rules were set up for the following season and all are • anxious to get started bowling again. The first night is on Monday, Sept. 13th. Anyone still interested in joining the ladies' league can contact the lanes, Tony and Marlene Bedard. Sister Bernadette Laporte from The Pines in Chatham has been spending a few •weeks with her father Mr. NQeI Laporte at RR 2 Zurich. Barb and Pat O'Connor and Anne and Bob Besozzi and son Steven have returned home to San Francisco after spending the past month with their parents and in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kane. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kenda Sr. had company from Toronto for the weekend. The Zurich playground has ended for the summer and I aqi sure all the children had a kood time, as they did many a 'vales and went to a lot of interesting places, such as a camping trip overnight near Goderich and Story Book Gardens in London last week to mention only a few places. Thanks to the leaders Carolyn Regier and Kathy Love fot their patience, time and in- volvement with the playground and the children. Little Benjamin Leonard, son of Doug and Shirley Debus,.was baptized on Sun- day August 29th at St. Boniface Church by Father Mooney. His godparents were Paul and Janine Masse. Congratulations to Debbie Horner and Dwayne Mathers who were married on Satur- day, August 28th at the United Church in Exeter. The bride is the daughter of Earl and Margaret Horner, Zurich and the groom is the son of Arnold and Ila Mathers, Exeter. Lloyd and Virginia Denomme spent last week in Calgary and attended their son Michael's wedding to Nor- ma Ink in Saskatoon on Satur- day, August 21st. Former resident visits from the Maritimes By Mary Chez:all Roger McKinley has been home from Nova Scotia for a week's holidays. • He graduated from grade 12 in Truro and is returning to school to pick up extra credits while deciding what career he wants to pursue. There is no grade 13 in Nova Scotia. His brother. Richard is in Lethbridge. Alberta, in con- nection with his course in civil engineering technology at Fanshawe, and is enjoying the work there. Berne and Doris visited him while in Ed- monton at the Hatchery Con- vention. Doris has been teaching ukulele part-time to student teachers at college; • . and has joined their church's Bell Ringers. Jean Reid's "puppy dog" crib quilt won first prize at Bayfield Fair. Congratula- tions, Jean' Varna and - Goshen chur- ches will return to their regular time of 10:00 .and 11:30 this Sunday. We wish to remind all the members of the Auxiliary and. any other interested ladies of. the area that the first meeting of the fall and winter season will be held on Tuesday.
