Severe--- __ inconsistencies
By Wilma Oke
Tuckersmith Township
council is concerned that the
Hnron Land Severance Com-
'tTltlttee has given different
decisimp on two similar re-
quests recently for land
severances.
• ° Mervin Falconer of R113,
Seaforth was granted his re-
quest for a severance of the
land his house and barn are
on, While the same request by
•Ho ward Dayman of RR3, Kip -
pen was turned down. Coun-
cil is asking the committee
secretary for an explanation.
In other business in the
council session Tuesday night
which went on for five hours
e
and 15 minutes, road
superintendent Allan
Nicholson was authorized to
sign a request along with
Harry Arts of RR4, Seaforth
for en engineer's preliminary
report for repairs to the Ar-
chibald Drain.
The township has decided to
help Arts by agreeing to share
the costs of the report which
could cost about $1,500. At a
council session last month
Arts had stated he had "put
up with this mess (flooding*
for the past 20 years."
Engineer Henry B. Centen
of Stratford read his report on
the Adams Municipal drain
which calls for repair work on
the main portion of the drain,

affecting about 97 hectares,
which will cost about $21,500.
The report called for grass
water runways in a difficult
area but owner John Segeren
of RR2 Seaforth said he did
not want the grassed areas on
his land. Council members
expressed concern that if
grass runways were not put in
the drain would give trouble
at an early date.
Court of Revision was set
for September 7 at 8:15 p.m.
Deputy Reeve William
Brown asked for a meeting to
be held- with members of
council and their engineer,
Dr. Martin Stapleton and of-
ficials of the Ministry of the
Environment to discuss an
erosion problem on Dr.
Stapleton's farm at RR4
Seaforth. This has been a pro-
blem for a few years.
Council approved a request
for a tile drain loan for
$16,500:
Township grader operator
Kenneth Miller of RR4,
Seaforth was given permis-
sion to attend a three-day
road school offered by the
Good Roads Association to
upgrade his skills in operating
and maintaining a grader.

Approval was given the
Van Egmond Foundation to

Ciderfest on September 25
and 28.
A request by Mrs.. Claire
Haskett of Heather Gardens
Nursing Home for an access
exit to No. 4 highway from
Seventh Avenue in Vanastra
was forwarded to the
Ministry of Transportation
last month and the reply from
the Ministry indicated that
the Township of Tuckersmith
could provide this exit by pay-
ing all costs.
Road Superintendent Allan
Nicholson estimated that it
might cost in the
neighbourhood of $7,000 for
which there would be no
grants. The Ministry letter in-
dicated Seventh Avenue
would meet government re-
quirements but it stated the
exit from Crescent Drive
which is in the same area
would be preferable. Council
would prefer Seventh Avenue
because it is a direct route.
Council will ask Mrs.
Haskett and provincial
engineer Jackson of Stratford
to attend the next council
meeting to discuss the exit.
A new dusk to dawn light
will be erected at the recrea-
tion centre by Harold Wise of
Clinton at a cost of 8207.
Passed for payment were
accounts totalling 881,089.20
which included: Vanastra
day care, 85,6330.48; Vanastra
recreation centre, $11,298.24.
Council discussed at length
the proposed operating bylaw
for the new Seaforth and Area
Community • Centres and
township representative Jim
Papple was asked to make
some proposals for changes in
the bylaw before giving final
approval -of August 11.
The new building will be
managed under the direction
of a 11- ber committee
appointed 156f the Town of
Seaforth it and the four
surrounding township coun-
cils of McKillop,
Tuckersmith, Hibbert and
