Swim pool busy
By Christine Stutt
The summer of 1982 has
proven to be a busy time at
the Lucan community swim-
ming pool, which opened on
June 26.
Session .1 of the swimming
lessons began July 5 and end-
ed on July 23. Eighty-one of
111 children were successful
in completing their level of
the Red Cross Program. Ses-
sion two; began on July 26th
and runs until August 13th
and the classes are full.
Registration for Session
three will be held on Satur-
day, August 7 at the pool from
10 a.m. to 12 noon. .
If you cannot attend
registration August 7, please
contact a member of the pool
staff before August 13 and we
will try to accommodate your
children.

Revival
Sunday morning Rev. C.J.
Williams ministered from
John 15:1-8 and Galations
5:22-23 concerning bearing
fruit spiritually. One of the ex-
periences a person notices
when he is saved is he begins
to act differently. He will
begin to produce spiritual
fruit. It takes a lot of work for
trees to bear good fruit,
likewise it takes work for a
Christian's life to produce
fruit, and God gives different
gifts to His people.
When God gives a gift to a
Christian then he is responsi-
ble to use that gift in God's
service. The Holy Spirit's
energy is what produces fruit
in Christian lives. Just as
gardens need cultivation and
weeding, so our lives need
spiritual weeding to grow pro-
perly. We can try to produce
fruit ourselves, but only God
can make this fruit grow, by
His Holy Spirit in people's
lives.
Rev. C.J. Williams led the
singing for the evening ser-
vice. Visiting from Rochester,
N.Y., Doug Williams, accom-
panied by his wife Roberta on
the piano, sang "The Touch of
God", as his testimony of
what God has done for him.

Weed inspector makes tour
Lucan council learned
Tuesday night that county
weed inspector Hugh Baird
had made a recent inspection
of village properties and
ordered the necessary cutting
of weeds to be carried out this
week. •
Works foreman Doug
Johnston was authorized to
purchase the necessary
Midlander radio equipment
for village works department
use.
Johnson's proposal called
for a base station, , three
mobile units and a hand set
for a cost of approximately
$2,750. Reeve Ivan Hearn, a
member of the Lucan Hydro
Commission said he would
check with his members to
determine if extra mobile
units would be required for
hydro department use.
Clerk Ed Melanson assured
council that monies needed to
cover the radio system pur-
chase was included in the 1982
budget.
Council will be asking the
Ontario Ministry of the En-
vironment for clarification of
the pay schedule for con-
sulting engineering fees on
the sewer extension program.
The first report from MM
Dillon is expected shortly.

Centre
Former pastor of Lucan
Revival Centre, now
superintendent of Latin work
of Pentecostal Holiness
Church in Florida, Rev. Elvin
Thornton talked on walking
with God from Genesis 5:25,
and Psalm 91. One sign of
walking with God is that we
have fellowship with Him. If
we are walking with God, as
Enoch did, someday Jesus
will say to us, "Come on
Hnm o"
Walking with Jesus is to
love as He loved. Today the
least thing tears Christian
brothers apart. Walking with
God is walking in His love, in
holiness, a changed life. To
walk with God means to care.
To be ready to walk with God
we must let Him cleanse our
lives. Walking with God
means we will have the com-
forter, the Holy Spirit as our
guide and we will have
blessings in our 1`ives, w
will show people that God
with us. As we walk with God,
we are a part of Him, and
belong' to Him and His
church.

BIG THANKS
There are many seniors in
the community who would
like to say a big "thank you"
to the village council for
replacing the bench at the
Lucan Post Office and a new '
one in front of Howard
Black's.
It will be of great benefit for
those who walk up for their

particularly nice to see Rev.
Keith and Mrs. Brown back
from their holiday. We are
just sorry the last two weeks
of Mr. Brown's vacation were
spent in and out of two
emergency wards, one on St.
Joseph's Island where they
had been guests at the Ibbit-
son summer home, and the
other in St. Joseph's Hospital,

days in hospital.
However, he was back in

series of meditations for
August on different Psalms
using 66 on Sunday, par-
ticularly vs. 16.
We should rejoice in God's
power even as the Israelites
rejoiced as they passed
through the sea on dry land,
said Mr. Brown, God is
still in the "quality control
business" and has a definite
plan for our lives.
Mr. Brown said he needed
to experience what he has
been going through for the
past two weeks in order to ap-
preciate and understand the
sufferings of others. In our
daily lives we influence
everyone for good or bad and
God wants it to be for good,
thus He "tries" us and this is
the reason for our suffering
and trials.
Let us take a lesson from
the Psalmist and let us tell
others what God had done and
is doing for us, advised Mr.
Brown, and let us be sensitive
to what God is doing, that he
is alive and at work in His
world.
Mr. Brown thanked
everyone for their prayers,
cards and visits, saying they
meant a great deal to him.
