Holiday activities Saturday dinner guests with the Sweeney family were my sister and husband, Carol and Bill Butler and Scott of Sarnia. Mr. and Mrs. Les Usher - wood of Toronto and family are presently enjoying two weeks at their cottage north of St. Joseph. Ruth Zielman, along with her parents and .sisters, recently spent ten days in Winnipeg and while there at- tended her cousin's wedding. Several town residents en- joyed attending the activities in the area over the weekend, beginning with the Moonlight Madness on Thursday night in Hensall (that drew a large crowd). The Friedsburg Days on Friday and Saturday were also a big success. Congratulations to Bob and Donna Hamather who recent- ly celebrated their 25th wed- ding anniversary. Jerome and Marie Denomme were happy to see friends, Andre and Susan • Madore from Quebec who spent a few days with them a week ago; also with Victor and Irene Hartman. Other visitors with Jerome and Marie were Gerald and Uleen Rowland of London. Part of the Ducharme fami- ly held a little get-together recently outside at the home of Matthew and Martha with entertainment provided by Gerry and Ted Ducharme of Dashwood. Farewell to Pastor Jack Dressler, his wife Eileen and two sons, who have moved to Waterloo and I am sure will be missed by the whole com- munity as well as the members of the Lutheran Church. Rev. Cheryl Ashick- Englert is in charge for the time being until a replace- ment is appointed. Laurene Corriveau along with her sister, Dorothy Lan- nin of Mitchell spent the weekend with their mother Mrs. James Broughton in At- wood, and attended the 125th anniversary celebrations of Elma township. Doug Corriveau of Calgary • is spending a 10 day holiday with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Nap Corriveau and brothers and family in Goderich. George and Annette Overholt of Burlington visited for a few days in town this past week with several relatives. David and Jean Tingley and two children from Cor- nwall Prince Edward Island are visiting with good friends, Doug and Nan Kincaid. Congratulations to Gary and Brenda Koehler, Hensall, on the arrival of their first baby and little "girl" born at St. Joseph's Hospital Satur- day. A granddaughter for Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Koehler, RR 2 Hensall, and 38th grandchild for Claude and Madeline Gelinas of Zurich. Anne Besozzi and son Steven from San Francisco are presently enjoying a month's vacation with her parents Frank and Jerry Kane. Good bye to Rob Chester and his wife Carol who have moved from Exeter to Kit- chener. The couple were members of Lutheran Church here in Zurich and Rob work; ed at the Times -Advocate paper. Welcome to Yvonne Reynolds who has taken over Rob's job, so if you see so- meone walking around taking pictures at different functions it's Yvonne. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oesch spent the holiday Monday visiting with their daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Greg Thiel at their new home near Stratford. Ervin and Irene Bender of Guelph were Monday guests with his sister, Mary and Cur- tis Gingerich. Bob and Linda Hendrick and two children returned home on the weekend after a two week motoring and cam- ping trip to Calgary and going to see her sister; Janet and Richard Regier and family. On Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon the am- bulance attendant came and talked about safety. He show- ed us the inside of the am- bulance. We all thought it was great. Wednesday we went swim- ming at Vanastra. On Thurs- day we had a bottle drive. On Friday, we went to the firehall. Mr. Merner gave us all a ride in the fire truck. What he told us was in- teresting. He showed how hel got ready for a fire and wharf he does when he gets to the fire. On Saturday we had a very successful bake sale. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those in the community for making our bottle drive and bake sale a success. Your support is greatly appreciated! Ladies Day at Bayview Twenty ladies took part in the Tuesday Ladies Division two -ball foursome tourna- ment at Bayview. Most of the ladies finished eighteen holes looking more like drowned rats than golfers. All agreed to do so again in two weeks. A little boy "Ben- jamin John" who was born on Saturday,. July 31st at Exeter Hospital weighing 6 Ib. 12 oz. This is the lith grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Gingerich. Sixteen children, members of the 9-H Beef and Dairy club along with some parents and friends spent the day at Canada's Wonderland last Tuesday, going by vans. Jason and Krista Schilbe it was a super day and noted spent the weekend with their grandparents Hubert and Marge Schilbe. their parents Richard and Brenda spent the weekend in Ottawa where Richard was playing in the Memorial League Softball Tournament. Last Sunday, August 1st the children of Ron and Marilyn Heimrich hosted a surprise family get-together in honour of their parents' upcoming 25th wedding anniversary. Ron and Marilyn were mar- ried 25 years ago on August 10th at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich. Congratula- tions to this well known couple. Deaths The community was sad- dened by the loss of two of its residents this past week. On Wednesday, July 28 Mr. Den- nis Corriveau passed away suddenly. 'A very large funeral was held for him on Saturday morning. We extend our sincere sympathy to his wife (Meryl) and all his fami- ly and relatives.
