HUGH MORINZ Shipka Congratulations to Willis Des jardine for some more first class fiddle wins. Last weekend he placed first in his age group at Bobcaygen, and his brother Maurice Desjar- dine, of Huron Park, won third prize. At a recent contest in Petrolia Willis won another first prize. A former summer resident of this area for several years, Harold S. Taggart Q.C. died suddenly July 23, at London, in his 56th year. Mr. and Mrs .Dick Zielman, Ruth, Debbie and Angie, returned last Wednesday from a ten day holiday to Win- nipeg, Manitoba and while there attended the wedding of their nephew and cousin, when Heinz Peter Janzen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Janzen, was married to Marlene Rempel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Rempel, all of Winnipeg. The wedding was held at North Kildonan Men- nonite Church, in Winnipeg, with a dinner following. Nephews, nieces and friends attended the funeral last Wednesday for Mrs. Leah (Finkbeiner) Keyes, wife of the late Ernest Keyes. Mrs. Keyes was in her 96th year. The Keyes farmed for many years on the nth con-. cession of Stephen township, and when they retired to Ex- eter, their farm was bought by Lorne and Loreen Devine in 1952. When the Devin's return- ed to live in Grand Bend in 1977, the farm was bought by Gerald Zielman. Visitors through the week with Hugh and Annie Morenz included Roy Morenz, Grand Bend, Jack and Hazel Corbett of Hensall; Mrs. Evelyn Hor- wood, her son Don Horwood and his son Shawn, of London. Friday night guests with hiorenz's were and Mar- jorie Adams, Exeter, Ed Turnbull, Oscar and Laura Miller, Dashwood; and Mrs. Blanche Chapman of London. Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Morenz held a joint birthday celebration. Sports news At the Squirts softball game Thursday night at Grand Bend the score was Shipka 37, Grand Bend 11. Shipka players Jeff Bennewies scored two home runs and Michael Vincent and Dwayne Mellin each had one home run. Jason Finkbeiner caught one fly.
