Jeffrey Bros. con- tractors, Zurich , sponsored ' the Queen. Mrs. Jack Corbett and Mrs. Elizabeth Riley also of Hensall won several red ribbons at \the baking and crafts on Saturday. Hensall is very proud to boast of prize- winning residents. A social time was enjoyed by all and a clack** smorgasbord lunch served. Queensway news Mrs. Mary Parimer spent Saturday and Sunday visiting with her- sister Mrs. Helen Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Denroch, Ottawa and Mrs. Potwin, Montreal visited their mother Mrs. Louise Mitchell and visited with the latter's son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Les Mitchell, Crediton. Mr. Neil Regan was visited by his sister, Mrs. Morkin on Sunday afternoon. Aleeta Kats visited last week with her father Mr. John Kats in Exeter. Mrs. Shirley Luther con- ducted the worship service last week. Neil Regan was high bowler at the weekly bowling on Fri- day, his score 145, Ross Thompson was second with 118. Thanks to our volunteer driver Mrs. Wilma Kleinhaar. The residents enjoyed a barbeque on Wednesday evening. Attends Golden Wedding anniversary Mrs. Laird Mickle attended 'the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Tieman at their home in Dashwood on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Sangster and Brad spent the weekend at their summer camp at Silver Lake. Visiting on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Sararas and Jodi were members of their family: Mr. and Mrs. Don Poulin and Lisa, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sararas and family, Ex- eter; Mr. Al Sararas and son, Cambridge; Mr. and Mrs. Don sararas, Exeter; Miss Karen Sararas, Kitchener; attending the funerals of their uncles the late Roy Mac- Donald and the late Allan Johnson Saturday and Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Dalton and Carlo, Walton visited recently with Mrs. Dalton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker. Stuart and Mrs. Hazel Corbett was available for the nursery. The children discussed the difference between a dike and a dam and were reminded of the story of the boy who held his finger in the hole of the dike to stop the water. Flowers decorating the sanctuary were from the funeral of the late Roy Mac- Donald, placed there by his family. Mrs. Irene Davis greeted worshippers at the front door and ushers were Steve and Jeff Corbett and Milt Lavery' Personals Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Johnson of London were visitors on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Deeves and attended the funeral of the former's brother the late Allan Johnson on Monday. Sunday Church Service Mr. Robert Elliott 'con- ducted the service at Hensall United Church on Sunday with a message on the Chris- tian image in today's world. He noted today's economics aria unemployment have changed the national outlook but God's love never changes. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and had freshie. "Today the playground will visit Holly Gully near Varna. The children will tour the facility and learn about special events held there. Other exciting events com- ing to the Hensall playground are a Bike Rodeo, Water Day, Bottle Drive, and Cowboys and Indian day. The playground has several tours planned. Thursday the children will visit the Hensall fire station and Wednesday, August 28 the boys and girls will see "Androcles and the Lion;" at the Grand Bend playground. On August 4 the children will travel to Exeter to visit Zehr's Supermarket in the morning and then go swimm- ing at the Exeter swimming pool in the afternoon. On August 11 the playground will be going to Marineland in Niagara Falls. With all the special events planned for the Hensall playground we hope that this will be the best summer yet. Hopeeveryone can come out and have a fun time. Winners of Recreation draw in Hensall The Hensall Rec Commit- tee held a draw to support recreational activities plann- Z'w ed for Hensall. The draw made close to 8600. The winner of the $100 cash prize donated by Cook's Mills (Division of, Gerbro) was Nancy Deitz, Hensall. Robert Cameron, Hensall won a 825 Food Voucher at Don's Food Market, and Jeanette Turner, Hensall won a 825 store voucher at the Hensall Co-op. The winner of the 825 gift certificate at Hensall Pro Hardware was Isabel Porter, Embro, and Lynda Freiter, Exeter won $20 worth of Lot- tery tickets at Ron's Health Centre. Don Dixon, Hensall won a free perm at William's Hairstyling and Sandy Talbot, Hensall won 820 -gift cer- tificate at Taylor's Discount House. Guest speaker for this meeting will be Philip Durand, a Zurich area farmer speaking about the produ tion and planning of his family's ethanol manufacturing plant. The Durand plant, was con- structed by the family members with the assistance of some government grants. Mr. Durand is especially in- terested in the development of clean energy. A solar collec- tor and corn are used in their ethanol production system.
