Centennials win
The Exeter Centennials
came away with a 3-1 victory
over Wallaceburg .in soccer
league play, Sunday.
Exeter started strong by
scoring three goals in the first
half. Paul Vandewalle scored
the first of his twogoals on an
excellent pass from forward
John Van Esbroeck. A long
lbw shot to the far corner beat
the "Wallaceburg goalie.
Shawn Rotteau beat the
goalie to "a loose ball and
scored into as empty net to up
the score to 2-0. The third
goal, areplicaof the first and
was again scored by Paul and
set up by John.
First year player John Van
Esbrceck is fitting well into
the Centennial lineup.
In the second half
Wallaceburg came out press-
ing and scored a quick •goal
but it was their last. Exeter
trying not to fall into a defen-
sive shell started to take the
ploy out of their own end.
Very few chances occurred in
the second half for both
teams. Although- half John
Flanagan went down the
wing and hit the goal post
from close in.
It was Wallaceburg's first
loss and Exeter's sixth
straight win to up their record
to 6-1 and take a commanding
'lead in the standings.
Wallaceburg has tied three
games to sit three points
back.
Sunday Exeter travels to
Nairn at 6:00 p.m. It should be
a good game due to the fact a
good rivalry exists between
the two teams. Nairn won the
championship last year and
beat Exeter in the
Semi-finals.
may be weighed there daily
from 12 noon to 10 p.m. except
the last day, it will close at 2
p.m.
Only fish legally taken dur-
ing the derby in Canadian
waters from Port Glasgow to
Port Bruce may be entered.
General derby rules and
fish and game laws must be
followed by those entering.
Entry fees are 88 person or
816 per family. Forms are
available' at McNutt's Tax-
idermy Exeter, Ken's Live
Bait, 1086 Trafalger St. and
the Outdoor Stores in London.
Prizes are almost
unbelievable. Grand prize for _
the largest fish caught is a
1983 Ford Ranger pickup
truck.
The largest Chinook
Salmon will net its owner
81000 cash. It is most likely
that this will also be the
largest fish caught thus win-
ning the truck. The largest
fish caught will also be
mounted free of charge- by
McNutt's Taxidermy.
The largest trout (probably
a rainbow but who knows,
brown and takers are possi-
ble) will win its owner a' 7.5
Honda outboard motor. The
largest Coho a 7.5 Johnson
outboard. These motors list at
over 81000. The largest Coho
will also be mounted free of..
charge by Crawford
Taxidermy.
The largest fish entered dai-
ly will receive a Ryabi Bait
Casting reel valued at 8140.00.
A draw will also be held
from all entrants for return
air fare for two during the
"Great' Salmon Ilunt" at
Toronto with Peter Sticklee in
his 255 Searay fishing boat.
All in all there are a lot of
big prizes up for grabs. Is it
any wonder there are an in-
creasing number of entrants
every year.
