Look for possibilities
in old age says cleric
Rev. J. Forsythe dedicated
his Sunday sermon to senior
citizens at Exeter United
Church. He spoke from Psalm
102 about our days like a
shadow that declineth.
Many people don't seem to
want to face the decline. We
seem to get caught up in how
old is elderly. Is it 60 or 65
years of age? People grow old

Worry and despair make us
old.
Old age is a normal phase.
There is a tendency to make
old age into something that is
queerly different - a problem
or a disease. Our seniors have
been categorised and
surveyed ad nauseam.
We must look for the
possibilities in old age. We
cannot ignorethe insecurity
and the loneliness of our
seniors. We have to be
thankful for the days the good
Lord gives us.
The minister said the
shadow changes in its decline.
Changes may be physical.
The number of our friends
decay as lima bears its
children away. Some don't
face the change. They wantto
cling to the fountain of youth.
The big question is how to
react to the changes.
Remember seniors have done
and are doing many things.
We have a hard time getting
seniors at home when we call.
Because your hair goes
white doesn't mean your
spirit has to be bleached.
Even when you are confined
to your room you can have a
ministry of prayer and
communication.
The preacher also said
there was a finality about old
