Mrs. Earl Atkinson and Mrs. Heber Davis are holidaying in, the Huntsville area. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tindall entertained Mr. and Mrs. Howard Clarke to their 25th Wedding anniversay dinner in London Sunday. GRADUATES — 'Shirley Chalmers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Chalmers, Exeter graduated from University of Western On- tario with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing with minors in Sociology and Psychology. IRVIN RADER Dashwood As a result of the publicity of the opening of the Dashwood and Area Medical Centre, Chairman Bob Hoff- man was interviewed by C.B.C. following the morning news last Tuesday. Vacation Bible School will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, August 3-13. . Mrs. Florence Martene at- tended the graduation of her niece Karen Easter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Easter, Sarnia at the Univer sity of Western Ontario, Wednesday, June 9. Ladles Aid Group 1, with conveners Mr§. Howard Datars and Mrs. Dave Rader, was in charge of devotions and lunch at the June meeting of Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. Eighteen members answered the roll call. Pastor M. Mellecke took for the topic "The Church Takes Root." This dealt with Pentecost, the ascension of Jesus and the choosing of the twelfth disciple to replace Judas. Mrs. Florence Martene, president dealt with the business. The Altar Guild reported 16 visits, five treats, and flowers sent. The new Guild is Mrs. Alma Genttner and Mrs. Elda Koehler. A letter was read convening the annual meeting of the oGuild at the seminary, St. Catharines. A bakeless bake HONORS GRAD - The degree of Bachelor of Arts in . Honors English and History was conferred upon Eleanor W. Salmon at the University of Western Ontario on June 8, 1982. Eleanor is . the daughter of Esther E. Salmon and the late W. Clifford Salmon. She graduated on the Dean's Honor List and has gowbegun further,studies in English in the Muster of Arts program at U.W.O. sale will be held during the summer months. The church picnic is July 25, groups 2 in charge of the meal. Group 1 will be in charge of refreshments at the Bible school. A generous memorial dona- tion was received from the family of a longtime member. The L.W.M.L. is making more chrismons which the Ladies Aid will pay for. Mrs. Harry Hayter had closing Devotions. T -A photo Roll call on flowers ' Saintsbury UCW meets By MRS. HEBER DAVIS Mrs. Vicky Gee was hostess Tuesday evening for the June U.C.W. meeting. There were eight members .present and one visitor. The meeting opened with all repeating the members prayer, led by president Marguerite Greenlee. The roll call was answered with the name of a summer flower. Mary Jefferies read the minutes of the May meeting and Mary Davis gave the treasurers report, showing a profitable garage, bake and penny sale June 5 at the home of Tom and Mary Kooy. Discussion followed and a motion -to pay the remainder of our church budget was car- ried. Several members assisted with prayers. Plans were discussed for two pool parties, one in July at the home of Carol Greenlee and one in August at the home of Hazel Davis. The chicken barbecue is planned for the last Wednes- day in August at the church grounds. Mary Davis gave a reading entitled "Uncle Mose Counting Eggs". The hostess assisted by her children Robbie and Jennifer I served a delicious lunch. Mrs. Jeffery chaired the , program, piano solos by Joyce Fell and Joan Kerslake, piano duet by Deb- bie and Leeanne McCloud, reading by Kim Finlayson and stepdancing by Sharon and Joyce Fell. An address of good wishes was read by Mrs. Jeffery and Helen was assisted by her sister Marion in opening her gifts. Helen expressed her ap- preciation to all and a social hour followed. The executive of the Staffa Women's Institute and the committee for the open meeting on June 24 met at the home of the president Mrs. Lloyd Miller on Tuesday afternoon. The upcoming theatre night and bus trip were discussed and some plans made for the meeting on June 24th in the township hall when Bill Jarvis M.P. will speak on Canada's Constitution.
