Sunday School anniversary

Fairy, Australia was a guest
last week with Mr. and Mrs.
Arnold Cann and Brad. Dr.
Adams is visiting across
Canada for a month.
Mr. and Mrs. Reg Hodgert,
Brenda and Scott were Sun-
day guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Hern and family, Zion.
Miss Brenda Ballantyne,
Toronto spent the weekend
with her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Lorne Ballantyne and Wendy.
Sunday School anniversary
The Sunday School anniver-
sary was well attended Sun-
day morning. Thechurchwas
tastefully decorated with
orange blossoms, peonies, iris
and impatiens plants.

sary will be celebrated at Kip -
pen United Church, June 20 at
11 a.m.
A combined Communion.
service will be held at
Brucefield United Church
Sunday, June 27 at 11 a.m.
followed by a pot luck social;
hour.
School were in the choir, who
sang an opening chorus, offer-
tory prayer, and a closing
prayer. Mrs. Howard Pym
and daughter Margaret sang
three inspiring numbers,
Margaret played accompani-
ment on the guitar.
Rev. Burton Crowe of Cen-
tralia was the guest speaker
who told the children a story.
The Scripture was 2 Timothy
2, 1-7 and Luke 2, 41-52.
Rev. Crowe's message was
entitled "A Well Balanced
Life".
Music and accompaniment
was supplied by the organist
Miss . Agnes Bray and the
pianist Mrs. Robert Hulley
which was well done. The two
ladies played a piano duet
while the offering was being
received by Barry Cunn-
ington, Gerald Cunnington,
Dennis Pym and Steven Pym.
The choir director was Mrs.
Rick Parker. David Cunn-
ington said a few words of
thanks to the participants and
presented them with gifts.
Among some of those who
attended the service and
spent the day with relatives or
friends were, Mr. and Mrs.
Floyd Cooper and Joan, Mr.
and Mrs. Danny Smith and
Chad, Elimville with Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Bray and
Vanessa.

United Church women
The June meeting of the
United Church Women was
held Monday evening with a
fair crowd in attendance.
Mrs. Barry E: Miller
welcomed everyone and gave
the theme On Being Thankful
and also read a poem "1 Am
Fine Thank You":
Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne read
a poem "Bright Moments".
Mrs. Miller read from Luke 2
followed with prayer by Mrs.
Miller.
Mrs. Jack Stewart gave a
reading "A Day Worthwhile".
Mrs. Ballantyne and Mrs.
Stewart received the offering
and Mrs. Ross Ballantyne
gave the Offertory Prayer.
Mrs. Miller introduced
Deanne Dixon, Wingham.
Mrs. Dixon is of the Town and
Country Homemakers of
Huron- County. She outlined
their work and also said that
there was to be a canvass in
_Huron County later on in the
year. Mrs. Ballantyne thank-
ed Mrs. Dixon and presented
her with a cheque.
Mrs. Ken Duncan welcom-
ed everyone and gave a poem
"Let Us Strive On". The usual
business was dealt with. Mrs.
Ross Hodgert gave treasurers
report and Mrs. David
Passmore gave. a manse
report.
She stated that the manse
roof is being shingled , and
also a chimney being
repaired.
There is to be a -sale at the
manse July 14. Anyone
wishing to donate articles for
sale please let the manse
committee know shortly.
Mrs. Donald Bray gave a
report of the recent London
Conference which was held at
Stratford.
Sunday, June 20 after the
regular church service a
farewell get together for
Lorne, Joan and Jim Thrower
will be held. A pot luck picnic
dinner will be partaken of.
Each family is asked to bring
plates, cups, cutlery and a
picnic basket. Beverage will
be supplied.
There will be no services
Sunday, June 27 owing to
Elimville anniversary.
