More than 100 attend Times -Advocate, May 26, 1982 Crediton firemen fireworks display a sparkling success by MRS. PITO MARTIN - The Crediton Women's In- stitute held their May meeting in the town hall Wednesday evening. The meeting was opened by the singing of the Ode following by the Collect. Roll Call was answered with "A fun activity I enjoy" with members responding. Minutes were read and ap- proved. Bills and cor- respondence were read. Poem "Mother's Prayer" was read by Mrs. Dave Cot - tel. The treasurer's report was given. President Mrs. Dave Cottel turned tie meeting over to the program committee. Mrs. Gerald Dearing read a poem "Seasonal Notes". Motto was read by Mrs Gerald Dearing. Games . followed. Purse spell down was won by Mrs. Hubert Cooper. Four volunteers played an ice cream game. Ruth Eveland, Jean Crawford, Dolores Shapton and Louise Wein. Winners of the latter game were Jean Neil and Ruth Eveland. Winners of the Curiosity Shop game were Anne Cottel and Louise Wein. The Ha Ha game caused a lot of Ha Ha's with the most soberest player being Cora Wein. , Mrs. Lloyd Roeszler gave her report from Waterloo Of- ficers Conference held May 4-6. Winners of the point game were Erma Krueger, Katie Schenk, Bernice Cooper and Gloria Martin. Lunch was. served by Lois Hodgins, Jean Heist and Louise Wein. The next meeting will be held September 15 at the town hall. The meeting will be associated with the Huron County Historical Society's meeting. The main topic will be on Flax. Church news Monday the ladies of the United Church Women spon- sored a bus trip to Elmira. They enjoyed lunch at the Stone Creek and then a tour through the Mennonite countryside. Sunday was the 131st An- niversary of the United Church. Rev. Stan McDonald, Hensall was guest minister. The junior and senior choir, under -the direction of Don Finkbeiner sang, "With a Lit- tle Love" and "In the Morn- ing of Life". The senior choir opened the service with "Ho- ly Holy" Doug Lewis provid- ed the organ music and Joyce Preszcator played the piano. Rev. McDonald spoke to the children about "The Good Samaritan Dog" and address- ed the adults with "The Ultimate Question". After the service lunch was served by the U.C.W. group .offering a chance for fellowship with friends and relatives. Rev. Brian Elder took the service at Hensall United - Church. Firemen fireworks Over 1,000 people came to enjoy the music of Roger Quick and the Rainbows and to see a fireworks display Monday evening at the. Crediton Community Park. Roger Quick and the Rain- bows and Barb Saunders were introduced by BX93 an- nouncer Bob Capp. The Roadrunner and a ambulance from Hoffmans proved an at- traction for many. With a spray of golden sparkles and a loud boom the Personals Mrs. Ed Hendrick passed away early Wednesday mor- ning in a London hospital. Resting at the T.H. Hoffman Funeral Home in Dashwood with the funeral tentatively set for Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Clare Sparl- ing and Doug and Buelah. Sparling, Walkerton visited Sunday with Mrs. Lavina Finkbeiner in South Huron Hospital. Dr. and Mrs. Fred Morlock and Lynn, Kitchener visited with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Morlock, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Browning 'Sr. spent the weekend with friends in Frankford. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Finkbeiner was Scott Skinner. fireworks got underway. Serpentines, double headers and shooting stars followed. Ahs and ahs, whistles, claps Page 9 and toots followed the lighting of the St. Catharines' wheels.
