MARTIN VAN RAAY St. Columban Roman Catholic Church was the setting March 20, 1982 for the wedding of Teresa Mary Hicknell, daughter of Francis and Marie Hicknell, of Seaforth and Martin Cornelius Van Raay, son of Case and Annie Van Raay, of Dashwood: Father Eric Sikora officiated. Patricia Harris, Goderich was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Margaret Hicknell, of Seaforth, sister, of the bride, the groom's sister Teresa Van Raay, Sar- nia and Kathy O'Leary, Seaforth. The groom's niece, Helena Whittington of Peterborough was flowergirl. The best man was Frank Winters, London and ushers were Don Van Raay, Brantford, brother of -the groom, Larry Hicknell, Seaforth, brother of the bride, and the groom's brother Michael Van _ Raay, Dashwood. The bride's brother Stephen Hicknell, Seaforth, was ringbearer. Organist Patsy Crowley, accompanied the selections sung by the St. Columban Parish choir and soloistMaryCoyne. A Mother's Day outing to Swain's Greenhouses near West Lorne took place May 8. Mothers, mothers-in-law and friends of Alpha Pi members were invited as guests. A tour of the greenhouses was taken followed by a delicious lunch at the Garden Restaurant. The remainder of the day was spent browsing and buy- ing with more buying than "browsing" - May 18, members met at the home of Nancy Chambers for an "end of the year" social time. Hors d'oeuvres and punch were enjoyed throughout the evening followed by dessert, tea and coffee. Another meeting is planned for May 25 to finalize plans. The final event of the 1981-82 sorority year will be the 35th anniversary celebra- tion of Beta Sigma Phi in Ex- eter, to be held June 1 at Oakwood Inn, Grand Bend. Bell gave current events - the most recent was that Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Eyre left by train for the West, May 19. Mrs. Bell also gave courtesy remarks. Lunch was served by Margaret Hoggarth and Helen Parsons assisted by the hostess Mrs. Chalmers and her co -hostess Mrs. Grant MacLean. Mrs. V. Alderdice, Mrs. A. Hoggarth and Mrs. James Drummond attended the District annual in Zurich, May 20.
