SEASON'S FIRST HOLE -IN -ONE — Bob Oesch sank a
hole -in -one at the Bayview Golf Club May 2. Bob used
a 3 wood on the 183 yard, par three, hole at the course.
The club is just south of St. Joseph, about seven miles
north of Grand Bend on the Bluewater highway.
Centennials beat 'Bend'
Sunday afternoon the
Senior Centennials turned in
an excellent team effort and
managed a 3-2 win over
Grand Bend.
A game dominated by the
Centennials from start to
finish saw Exeter winger
Shawn Rotteau head in a nice-
ly placed ball from the other
winger Terry Vandewalle.
Minutes later an Exeter
defender . unintentionally
touched the ball with his hand
in thepenaltyarearesulting in
a penalty shot by Grand.
Bend. Goalie Blair Burbidge
had no chance on it. B fore
the half ended 'centre half
Alfonse Weersink put a nice
low shot through the goalie's
legs to put Exeter ahead 2-1.
Alfonse again worked his
way in front of -the net where
again a nicelow shot eluded
the goalie. A poor call by the
referee gave Grand Bend
another penalty shot in which
they made no mistake on. Ex-
eter pressed consistently con-
trolling the whole game but
couldn't put any more balls
past the Grand Bend goalie.
Exeter forwards hit
numerous crossbars and goal
poets but the score still ended
in a 3-2 victory for Exeter.
Next Sunday Exeter has the
weekend off but will probably
play an Exhibition game. The
following Sunday the Centen-
nials travel to Arkona to
play the Taxandrian Falcons
at 1:00 s .m.
