IRVIN NADIR Dashwood Wotnett's Institute met Tuesday, May 4 for the annual Grand- mothers meeting with conveners Mrs. Eben Weigand, Mrs. Gordon Bender and Mrs. Beulah Desjardine of a, pot luck supper. Mrs. Osear Mille had the lucky plate. Numbbrs were drawn for potted plants and winners were Mrs. Greta Schade, Mrs. Sid Baker, Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan and Mrs. Jessie Rader. Roll call was to introduce your grandmother and was an - FOR 100 YEARS SUPPORT At The Salvation Army we count. on your help, so we can go on helping others. For 100 years we've been, counting on you. A sing song was enjoyed. President, Mrs. Bender dealt with the business. The district annual is changed from the evening to the af- ternoon of May 20. Delegates are Mrs. Eben Weigand, Mrs. Gordon Bender, Mrs. Sid Baker and Mrs. Hilda Rader. The 4-H girls received gifts for county and provincial honors. Gifts were. presented to the two 4-H leaders, Mrs. Earl Keller and Mrs. Ray Rader who are retiring from 4-H. The 4-H exhibit was on display. Elise Vandeworp commentator and helper Kathy -Ann Keller spoke on the exhibit "Let's Bake Bread." • A Mother's Day poem was read end Danny Weigand played several piano selections. Mrs. Bender gave two readings "The Patch Work Quilt" and "Spring Planting." Ella Frayne, with the mouth organ, andher daughter, Marlene Mathers, at the piano, played several selections. Special speaker was Diane Dixon from the Town and Country Homemakers in Wingham who spoke and showed slides on Homemaking and Home Help in Huron County. She told what a Homemaker is and .how one goes about getting one if they require help. The evening was en- joyed by all, The Institute is planning aTweedsmuir Tea for their June meeting. 60th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Miller celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sun- day, May 9. Many lovely flowers were placed in Zion Lutheran church, gifts from relatives and friends. Vickie Miller, a. granddaughter .sanga solo "The Lord's Prayer." Mrs. Mildred Kellerman was in charge of youth time Mrs. Gordon Bender read the scripture readings. Ushers and offering gatherers were Mrs. Harold Hendrick and Mrs. Eben Weigand. Doris'Zurbrigg, Listowel, past president of Huron Perth Presbytery was guest speaker with the title "The past speaks, the present challenges and the future beckons." Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Stade are planning anopen house at their home May 15 and 16, 2-5 p.m. on the occasion of their 29th wedding an - and family spent the weekend in London spending Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Keller. Sunday, they attended confirmation service at Good Shepherd Lutheran church when a grandson of Mrs. Keller, Warren Keller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Keller received the rite of eon- firmation. They were guest with the Kieth Keller family. Family service was held at Calvary United Church, .Sunday. Rev. Barbara Laing assisted by Mrs. Don Weigand had the service. The Sunday School children sang "It's a Small World" accompanied by Mrs. Mervyn Tieman on the piano. Three boys read the scripture. Rev. Laing took for her message "Abiding in Christ." Funeral service for Mrs. Hilda Wein was held in Zion Lutheran Church, Monday, May 3 with Albert Rader, John Willert, Herbert Bills, Helmuth Messner, Robert and John Whittier pall bearers. Paye 9 Rev. Earl Stieman, pastor of Zion Lutheran church from 1967 to 1972 passed away at his home in Parkhill Monday, May 3. Ill health had forced his early retirement from the ministry. A number from here attended the funeral. Achievement night was held Monday, May 3 at Stephen Central school for the 4-1-1 club project "Bread - Winners." Dashwood club 2 had an exhibit "Let's Bake Bread." Two girls, Kathy Anne Keller and Irene Dietrich received. county honors: Alice Dietrich received provincial honors.
