Lutheran youth group plans lawn sale, bottle drive
The youth group of 'St.
Peter's Lutheran Church are
having a "lawn sale" on
Saturday, May 22. It will run
from 9 a,m. to 5 p.m. at the
home of Peter Miller, across
from the bowling alley.
On Monday, May 24, they
are planning to hold a 'bottle
drive" in the evening for all
returnable bottles (to earn
some money for a trip this
summer.)

on Friday. The couple

The pair are presidents of the ladies' and men's bowling league in Zurich. Bowlers
at the Town and Country lanes in Zurich raised $1,326.78 for the big brothers/big
sisters this year. The leagues held their annual banquet, Saturday.

Novice 11 Trophy to Zurich and area figure skating club members who passed through
the seventh National Skating Test badge. Recipients were: Chrystal Jones, Aimee
Gelinas, Doug Findlay, Derrick McGee, Terri Maurer and Robin Carnochon. The award
was donated by the Tenderspot.
1982 Dog Tags
1982 Dog Tags are now available at the
• Municipal Office at the following rate
structure: 1st male or spayed female
$4.00, 2nd $8.00; 1st female $8.00, 2nd
$12.00; 3rd of either $50.00 and if not
picked up by May 15th, 1982 the rate
will be doubled to cover costs.

Skaters see Canadian team

Welcome back to town,
Mrs. Joan Bedard, who
moved back into the Spruce
Villa Apartments last week
from London.
Also to Mr. Lavery (father
of Gordon, Zurich). And to
Mrs. Lerina Rose who has
returned to her apartment
after being away due to
illness.
The Brownies had a nice
sunny day on Saturday for
going around selling cookies
in Zurich, while the Girl
Guides took care of the
Hensall area.
Michael and Yvonne
Hartman of Montreal spent
from Tuesday to Friday in
town visiting with their
mothers, Mrs. Juliette
Denomme and Mrs. Theresa
Hartman, as well with
several relatives. They
returned home on Saturday
with their daughter Lori
Hartman who is a student at
Western University in
London and is done school
for the summer.

reception for Bro. Bob
Mittleholtz was held on
Sunday evening by Boniface
Parish for everyone to get a
chance to visit with Bro. Bob
while he is here from India
for two months:

A baby shower was held at
the home of Carmel Sweeney
last Friday night for nearly
twenty friends and relatives.
It was in honor of a sister-in-
law, Cheryl Gelinas (nee
Denomme) and was given by
the Sweeney-Gelinas family.
After playing a few games
she unwrapped several
beautiful and useful gifts.
This was followed by lunch.
Congratulations to John
and Jeannette Graham (nee
Jeffrey) who were married
on Friday evening at St.
Peter's Catholic Church, St.
Joseph by Fr. Bensette,
followed by a reception in
Bayfield. She is the daughter
of Mrs. Dolly Jeffrey and he
is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Patrick Graham of Bayfield.

in the recent canvass. A

Jerome Sweeney attended
a spiritual three day retreat
over the weekend in Guelph
at the Loyola House.
Some members of the
skating club, along with their
parents (34 in all) went by
bus to Toronto on Saturday
to see the Canadian skating
team in exhibition. Some of
the top skaters seen were
Elizabeth Manley, Kay
Thompson, Brian Pockar
and Brian Orser.
We also enjoyed seeing the
pairs and dance champions.
And finished off the trip by
stopping at McDonald's in
Stratford for supper.
Gertie Fleischauer spent
the weekend with her
daughter and family, Marion
and Larry Rogers in London.
The Mennonite youth
fellowship spent the evening
bowling at the local lanes
last Monday as their mon-
thly meeting and get
together.

Just a reminder to all pet
owners. The 1982 dog tags
are due before May 15 at the
Municipal office, $4.00 for
first male or spayed female
and $8.00 for 2nd, Also $8.00
for first female and $12.00 for
second. (If you're late it will
cost more.)
Skaters awarded
Last Tuesday the Zurich
and area figure skating club
held their end of the season
dinner, and awards night
with a pot luck supper at the
community centre. It was
enjoyed by all.
Following the meal Beth
Sweeney entertained the
children and parents with
her friend "Hugger". A
large puppet , by saying her
speech from school.
113 yards in one shot
Congratulatiosn to Bob
Oesch (son of Elmer Oesch,
Zurich) who did an almost
impassible thing on Sunday.
He sank a hole in one at the
Bayview golf course, on the
12th green. He achieved this
by using a three wood club
over a distance of 183 -yards.
Well done Bob!
Leagues hold banquet
A nice time was had by all
at the men's and ladies' and
mixed league's bowling
banquet at the Hensall
Community Centre en.
Saturday.
The evening began with a
delicious roast beef and ham
supper (it was just superb.
which was catered to by
Birdie Finkbeiner. and her
group.
This was followed by the
presentation of trophies by
the two presidents, (myself
and Gerard Ducharme )
Everyone enjoyed dancing
to the music of Mozarts
Melody Makers and the day'
proved to be a big success.

Several senior citizens
from Zurich and area were
treated to the day out last
Tuesday with members of
the Grand Cove Estates at
Grand Bend. Their first stop
was at Douglas Point, then in
Kincardine where they went

Students visit muSeem
The grade seven students
of St. Boniface school en-
joyed going to the Lambton
Heritage Museum, Grand
Bend on April 20. They went
by bus, and viewed many
historical exhibits as
well as candle dipping and
shingle splitting.
Mini -Vegas night
The Grand Bend Lioness
are sponsoring a Minl Vegas
Night at the Zurich Com-
munity Centre on Saturday,
May 8th. Games of chance,
raffles and elimination
draws are featured.
Cocktails are from 6:00 to
7:00, with a smorgasbord
from 7:00 to 9:00. There is
also a fashion show.
Admission is $311 a couple.
Youth hold
card party
The card party held at St.
Peter's Parish hall, St.
Joseph's put on by the youth
group Wednesday was a
success with 10 tables in
play. Winner of the high
man's hand was Matthew
Denomme, high lady went to
Diane Cyr. and draw for a
plant, was _ won by Debbie
Mommersteeg. The door
prize was won by Mrs. Tony
Denomme.
