Dashwood Tiaers win Can.A*i tournament in Lake Placid
The Dasbwaod Tigers won
gold medals in a recent Can -
Am hockey tournament at
Lake Placid, Now York spon-
$ared by the Hockey News.
. The Tigers playing. in the
over 23 years of age category
lost their first game to Kit-
chener and then roared back
with four straight wins to take
the championship with a final
4-1 win over the same Kit-
chener club.
In the final game, the
Tigers scored two goals. in
each of the second and third
periods after Kitchener
scored their only goal with the
game only 32 -seconds old on
a shot by Ed Schnurr.
Jim aplathar notched the
first Desbwood goal at 1.20 of
the =ecoidon pass
from John er and Tom
Hayter to tie the score.

Steve Kadlecik fired what
roved to be the winning goal
seven minutes later with Paul
Maguire and Dan Stanlake
assisting.
Kadlecik was back with the
third Dashwood goal midway
through the third period. This
time Maguire and Bill Hoff-
man provided the necessary
passes.
With only 10 seconds left on
the clock Paul Maguire hit the
Kitchener net on an
unassisted effort.
In the semi-final game, the
Tigers scored four times as
goalie Joe Arnold kept Guelph
Community Sports • off the
score with a fine
performance.
Paul Maguire opened the
Dashwood scoring at seven
minutes of the first period on
a solo dash and set up Steve
Kadlecik's score early in the
middle session.
In the third period, the
Tigers finished off the scoring
with a pair of goals on iden-
tical plays. Perry Stover fired
both with Luc Gagnon and
Bill Hoffman getting the
assists.
The Tigers scored three
first period goals on the way
to a 4-1 quarter -final victory
over Great Neck, New York.
At training camp
South Huron star football
running back, Mick Linden -
field returned Wednesday
from a three day training
camp at Acadia University
in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
During his visit, Linden -
field toured the campus and
performed numerous
strength, speed and agility
tests for Axemen coach,
John Huard. Acadia, home
of the 1981 CIAU football
champions has a population
of 2700 students on the hun-
dred andfifty year old cam-
pus.

Lindenfield. Huard . told
Lindenfield that he was look-
ing for "ambitious . players
who want to play". Linden -
field had' the best perfor-
mance average among the
three fullbacks attending the
camp who will vie to replace
all -Canadian John Priestnall
and is optimistic about his
chance of making the team.
Last year, Acadia's right to
grant 51000 scholarships to
all first year players was
suspended by the sport
governing bodies, "They're
trying to get the scholarship
reinstated," said Linden -
field.

The Dashwood scoring was
well spread around with six
different players sharing in
the goal getting.

wide open with four goals in
the second periiod on suc-
cessful shots by Perry Stever,
John Wooley, Luc Gagnon
and John Becker. Getting
