Barrie Gandier played his
piano -accordion and we had a
singsong led by Gertrude
Fleischauer, Grace was said
and we had a lovely lunch.
After a short executive
meeting with all presidents
attending, Mrs. Irene Davis,
Hensel', introduced the guest
speaker, Jack Lerette,
U.S.C.O., Toronto. He is 90
years of age and a very witty
speaker.
He said that the zones were
formed in 1981toworkout area
problems for seniors. A senior
is like the back seat of a
caboose. He knows where he
has been, but doesn't know
where he's going. If you don't
know the problem, you can't
do anything about it."
In 1959, 54 groups of seniors
met in Toronto. Now almost
1,100 clubs are organized. We
must use the faculties we
have or we lose them. Percy
Blundell thanked Mr. Lerette
very graciously.

Women at Exeter
have Easter theme
The Easter meeting of the
Unit 1 of Exeter U.C.W.was
held April 9, with Mabel Jef-
fery in charge of the pro-
gram. Assisting were Burdine
Morgan, Jean Noels, Mary
Kernick, Florence Finkbeiner
and Dorothy Hern.
To introduce the study
Mabel Jeffrey repeated
Christ's words "I am the light
of the world" and lit a candle
to represent this. Following
this was a comparison of the
earth awakening in Spring
and the Easter Resurrection.
We do not fully understand
either but know that God is
our refuge and strength and
will not foresake us if we put
our trust in Him. Easter is a
time of hope and a symbol of
man's highest hope and death
a part of reawakening. If
Easter be not true, Christ
would still be in the tomb.
At the closing four candles
were lit and carried through
the audience as Mabel read
"Jesus said '1 am the light of
the world' and asked His
followers to carry His
message to all the world."
Heidi Klaat, accompanied
by Dorothy Wildfong, sang In
the Garden.
Thelma Russell conducted
the business. Final plans were
made for the U.C.W. Anniver-
sary Sunday, May 2, and the
smorgasbord on May 6, Extra
tickets will be on sale at
Fisher's Hardware.
Goderich township; Assistant
treasurer, Alex Hamilton,
Grand Bend.
Harry Baker installed the
officers, and said that
presidents of senior clubs
should look after phoning
shut-ins to make sure they are
all right.
Past President Jewels were
presented to Mary Grigg,
Clinton, Harry Baker,
Bayfield and Nola Love,
Dashwood. All three were
outstanding presidents. Mr.
Blundell made a few
remarks.

Everett Haist for telling a
story. Courtesy remarks
were made by. Olga Davis,
Exeter. Meeting adjourned
by Barrie Gandier.
