IRVIN RAPER DASHWOOD Dashwood Seniors met Monday afternoon March 15 with the ladies quilting and the men enjoying cards. There were 98 present. Following a potluck supper, the president, Mrs. Pearl Miller, presided for the business. The Spring Rally will be held Wednesday, April 7 at the Zurich Arena. Anyone needing tran- sportation is to. contact the president by April 6. It was decided to entertain the Zurich and Hensall Seniors. A bus trip to Marineland was also discussed. Plans will be given at the April meeting. Mrs. Ken McCrae offered to make an afghan and Mrs. Frans Boogeman a cushion to go with the quilt when it is drawn for. A letter was read from Town and Country Homemakers. Everyone is invited to attend the Institute May meeting when the speakerwill be a guest speaker. Mrs. Ken McCrae's group was in charge of a program. She played a tape of the Seniors' band. A skit k , "Buying Eggs' was given by Flossie Willert, Alwinna Galloway and Mrs. McCrae. Quilting and cards con- tinued. Dashwood field The Dashwood Athletic committee met and set up a budget for the year. Mem- bers of the committee are: chairman, Ken Rader; Secretary, Bob Boogmans; others, Paul Watson, Frank Mcisaac, Bob Hoffman; Stephen representative, Doug Russell; Hay, Tony Bedard. Both councils have reduced their grants this year so it will be necessary to charge a user fee to adult teams only 150 for the season; $5 for a day game; $10 for a night game. Anybody wanting the field please contact the secretary, Bob Boogemans. Personals Jonathon Mellecke, Toronto, spent the weekend with his family, Rev. and Mrs. Mellecke. Diane Leibold and Carol Rader, young adults from Zion Lutheran Church, at- tended tile weekend for Lutheran Young Adults from Ontario, New York, and Michigan held at Conestoga Bible Camp near Elmira. They enjoyed fellowship, Bible study and singing. Special speaker was Professor Kurt Marquart, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with the theme ;'Spiritual Gifts". Mrs. Alma Genttner has returned home from a two week visit to Florida. She accompanied cousins who drove down and visited many interesting places and enjoyed beautiful weather. Mr. and Mrs. (Alen Truemner and Lyle have moved to their apartments at Craigweil Gardens, Ailsa Craig. Brian Kipfer has bought the Truemner property. • CALENDAR GIRLS — Most of the months .of the year were represented by the Calendar Girls in the Zurich and area figure skating club carnival held Sunday afternoon. HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA Seven tables were in play last Wednesday evening for the progressive euchre party at Shipka Community centre. Winners were: ladies high - Annie Morenz; ladies low - Mrs. Elzar Masse; men's high - Harold Fink- beiner; men's low - Ed Turnbull; most -lone hands - Bruce Russell. Group two were in charge of lunch refreshments. It was announced there would be another euchre party in two weeks on March 31. Quite a number from this area attended the pancake and sausage supper, held Friday night at the Church of God. Personals The Huron County Dairy Princess keeps herself busy. Last week she attended Seaforth Women's Institute as their guest speaker ac- companied by her mother, Mrs. Dick Zielman. Last Wednesday evening the .Zielman family, Dick and Annie, Ruth, Debbie and Angie were guests of Crediton Women's Institute, when they held family night and a smorgasbord supper. Ruth spoke to the group and showed the film "From Cow to Carton." Debbie entertained the group with accordion selections. Saturday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Keller were , Audrey and. Roy . Gibson, Crediton, their grandsons, Brent and Ryan Gibson, of Exeter, Marian and Robert Feltz, Brinsley, and Gwen Windsor, of Exeter. Bev, Sherri -Lynn and - Stephen Keller visited Sunday with Bev's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kirk, Moorefield. Stephen celebrated his 2nd birthday and Sherri -Lynn stayed for March break holidays. Mrs. Shirley Dell, Tonya and Cynthia of Belleville are holidaying this week with Mrs. Dell's sister, Annie and Hugh Morenz. Visiting Sunday afternoon with the Dell's and Morenz's was Bill.
