Thames Road Day
of Prayer, Friday
By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE
THAMES ROAD
"You've Come a Long way
Baby," was the title of the
Message at Thames Road
United Church Sunday. Mr.
Thrower used the phrase
which he borrowed from an
• advertisement, and com-
pared it to the long way
God's people have come
since the wanderings in the
wilderness to a promised
land.
This first Sunday in the
Lenten Season, the account
of Jesus wilderness ex.
perience and the temptations
He faced were examined.
People of today also have a
wilderness experience every
time they are forced to make
a decision when tempted to
take the easy road.
Maiiy things have changed
since the time of Jesus, but
as we read through the Bible,
we find that temptation has
always been a force, that
mankind has had to identify
and fight. Therefore the only
way man can say "You've
come a long way baby" is to
defeat the forces that
separate us from the will of
God.
The children's story was
"Watch me Plan" where Mr.
Thrower asked the children
to help take some objects guests
from a bag. This was done in Wednesday, Mark I
